Will Smith Tears Up Ending 'Fresh Prince' Feud w/ Janet Hubert

Will Smith and Janet Hubert have finally put their differences aside! The former co-stars sat down together for the first time in 27 years during "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" reunion special on HBO Max to discuss the actress' contentious exit from the sitcom nearly three decades earlier. Hubert originally played Aunt Viv for three seasons of the show. She left in 1993 citing "creative differences" and was replaced by Daphne Maxwell Reid. The casting shakeup sparked an ongoing feud between Smith and Hubert, which has continued in the public eye - until now!

No. She was absolutely difficult to work with. Alfonso has even referred to Janice as "Crazy Janice" for the abusive behavior she aimed at her co-stars. No amount of a bad home life justifies referring to your castmates as homophobic slurs and taking your anger out on them. When you go to any job, you need to show up and just do your job. If she was suffering from an abusive marriage, that was no one's fault, and she needed to find a healthier coping mechanism. Unprofessionalism will not be tolerated in most fields.

Some are. Some are stronger. Some black women historically just went thru extra, additional shit, shit that white women didn't, because of their skin color. Not just them, but their fathers, and mothers and brothers and sisters and friends. They were on the wrong side of segregation for decades. Live, Love and laugh. people say this shit rt? They did that too with an extra helping of pain on their ice cream. Most of which they had no say about, So, yeah, i can agree that some women, historically, are just stronger.

Why does that matter what hue the Black woman that replaced her had? Is she any less black? It's interesting how Hubert never made that claim only has it become a very popular thing to point out in the past 5-6 years on social media. Hubert herself rejected to come back on the show after they reached out to her. The 2nd aunt Viv didn't even want to do the show...they were looking for a replacement and she simply ended up accepting the role. It's not relevant in this case yet it's a group of sjw black women that have pushed this narrative to the forefront in this particular situation.

@@CorpoHawkWasabi I think it was more a case of if the show is more about her, she can move up and she was already good but was overshadowed by the comedic chemistry between the two main attractions... however she was one straight constant the show always needed... besides James Avery... but like what was said her situation was something Will was too young to understand at the time... I put most of the blame on the industry though, they would not have replaced her if she had a more prominent role and she probably wanted more screen time for more publicity and to move up to some degree, but she got blacklisted... she did not get fired, she left due to a dispute, but the organisation or agents or whatever decided to completely throw her under the bus, and Will was more like a yes man at that time still...

@@jessicamcgaughey8551 and I doubt neither of us know him personally. And have no choice but to rely on the same outlets that give us all the rest of our gossip. Why should one be believed and not the other? Cause the other is bad, negative and not so pleasant? The world we live in is now bad, negative and not so pleasant. Will is in the World. A newcomer to tv with enough pull to end the career or a veteran was in bed with someone directly or indirectly. So I considered it all when making my opinion. Don't take it to heart. It so great that Will and Janet have decided to put their feud aside. People have personal problems they don't share to people who they respect and love, but by sharing comes healing with the ones who listen, understand and respect. Life is a journey with walls we breakdown along the way to progress, or a book with chapters. My parents always used to tell me 'the bigger the storm...the brighter the rainbow 🌈'. It touched me to see them both reconcile as I grew up watching the show and seeing the many outtakes of fun, laughter and love for one another. I feel it's fitting they should put the past behind them, as they are missing the great James Avery, as any Fresh Prince fan does, and you don't know what tomorrow may bring, especially in this current pandemic worldwide. Peace and love to the both of you, and long may it continue. God bless you both.

I’m glad she received closure and realize that Will was young and had a lot of life to live. I’m also glad they were man and woman enough to publicly apologize just like they publicly went at each other. Many times people like to come at you publicly but apologize in private. If 2020 hadn’t taught each of us this is that life is too short. Love each other, forgive and don’t harbor hate in your hearts. I’m happy for them.

@johnsmi213
@johnsmi213 3 жыл бұрын
@@JT-fv6ih No way. L.A. is made up of people who star on hit TV shows and only one of them (if any) have a career after. Actors don't realize that just being a part of a hit doesn't mean you a star; acting is a freelance gig and you always have to focus on the next project. Will was the breakout star. You don't see Karyn Parsons, Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Alfonso Ribiero, or Daphne Maxwell Reid complaining that their career was ruined because they were deemed "difficult." They just simply weren't in demand after the show ended the way Will was. Actors have no obligation to help other actors. And like it or not, the reason Janet was removed from the show was she was difficult. No excuses she built up in her head to try to justify in her behavior. It's not uncommon -- every single TV set ever has had at least one actor who convinces themselves the reason the show they're on is a hit is because they are the best... and if they're not the lead role, they usually have resentment for the lead getting more attention than them. That was the case with Janet. That's why she was fired; that's why Alfonso couldn't bear himself to be around him. Will listening to her version of events and not challenging them is because he wants to make peace after decades of her throwing shade; he has nothing to lose in silence and has nothing to gain by challenging her. He is a bona fide movie star and that won't change just because he is lovely to a person complaining about a situation she created and doesn't want to live up to. It doesn't mean she wasn't culpable for losing her job or that she wasn't hired anywhere else because of it. If she was as brilliant of an actress as she claimed, she would have worked again. But she didn't become heavily in demand for the same reason Karyn, Tatyana, Joseph, Alfonso didn't... the film industry only latches to the breakout star and it's not often they get future television work because they're known for their characters so the audience won't get to know someone new in the role. Will owes her nothing. Just like other actresses who make for a hostile work environment because of their ego, she's living with the humility she lacked when she was in a position of power. It happens time and time and time and time again with actors in this industry. You'd think they'd learn but the second they become the person they always envisioned themselves as being, they let their ego take over and then lose out any favors they could have garnered, which are rare to come by even for those who are nice.

I am so glad they were able to have this closure. It’s obvious that she really needed this and so did Will. Their apologies to each other seemed heartfelt and genuine. I wish them each the best. ✨💖✨
