Thank you for your video. For those who are unfamiliar, there are many different types of plastics. Some plastics can become corrosive to coins. The worst is PVC which is Polyvinyl Chloride, because it releases chemical residue known as Plasticizer that corrodes metals such as silver or copper. The green corrosion on copper is known as Verdigris. On the other hand, some plastics are safe to use with coins. For example, safe coin capsules are made typically from Polystyrene. Other safe plastics include Acrylic (also known as Perspex or Plexiglass) and Mylar which is Polyethylene Terephthalate. Safe coin tubes are made from Polystyrene or from Polyethylene or from Polypropylene. Furthermore, ordinary paper and cardboard can become corrosive to coins. Instead use archival paper or cardboard, because they are acid free and non-corrosive. Also use drying packets of Silica Gel to absorb atmospheric moisture which can eventually tarnish coins.

Great accessories video sir! I've never seen the sticker 2×2's before are they a newer type...then it looked like you were selling that coin for $2 haha SOLD no shipping would be alot to Kansas for just that. Then what was that SWEET gold coin in the floating frame. Wouldn't mind seeing an Australian gold coinage video that would be AWESOME! I LOVE history and older coins tell more of a story than BLAN newer non-precious coins. Thank you sir for EVERYTHING! Stay safe and Peace from the land of OZ!!!

TY for your presentation :) Can you please cover coin albums and insert sheets. The sheets would need to cover the 2 x 2 flips the standardised Mint cards and the cards/oblong odd shaped packs that are still not standardised. I have found that purchasing the right sized pockets is not always as easy as one might think. Cheers.

Wisey. I use staple type but flatten the staples with pliers. The glue ones are a bit sus real long term.

I find the staples catch on things… Don’t look too great, either.
@wisey95
@wisey95 Жыл бұрын
@@peecee1384 wisey. You have to use pliers to squash them flat or get a stapler designed to leave the staples flat. The main thing is to store the coins safely.

"The moment you've all been waiting for"! $2 coin info! 😁😆☺️! Sad but true at the moment especially in my case. I've been messing around with some $2 buying and I've decided to just get it out of my system and grab as many of what I reckon will give the best profit for my little budget! Once my favourite investor $2 coins are priced beyond my reach I'll get back to doing what I was before. For me it's soooo hard to pass up this great opportunity to actually make some money and so my quest is on! Thankyou Matt for all that info on how to keep everything. Question: - Is the $2 "revolution" hurting Numismatics or helping it or What has your experience been with it so far Matt? Thanks for another great video

This is great! I find this is not talked about enough! Those self adhesives are COOL! I wish I would have seen those! Do you have a American 10 ten coin wish list? I always wonder what other areas of the world seek in our currency!

I definitely will ultimately get the 2oz capsules! Just looking into finding a suitable supplier for them :) I'm not too sure on the first world money fair kookaburra, I do know they've been doing them for a very long time though! I'll work on the lighting for future videos for sure! Thanks for watching!

When you have put your coins in flips/capsules etc, how then do you store them? For instance do you just put them in a bag or can you buy a suitable tray/cabinet etc.
@ThompsonsCoins
@ThompsonsCoins Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Phillip! Once you've put your coin into a capsule or flip the rest is up to you, my recommendation is always to ensure your coins are in a cool/dry place and out of direct sunlight but beyond that there's no set requirements. If you want to go down the display route there are coin trays which can be purchased and are ideal for displaying your coins. You'll often see them used at coin shows for dealers to display their wares too.

Hi, Thank you for the video, I was wondering, would there be any storage boxes for $2 rolls that you would recommend?
@ThompsonsCoins
@ThompsonsCoins Жыл бұрын
Storage boxes I've seen people use are often less specialised so long as the rolls are in the storage tubes (which I am about to start stocking) often people use food grade boxes/tubs. Thanks for watching!

Hi Matt 1oz gold completer or Tudor beast what capsule fits thank you
@ThompsonsCoins
@ThompsonsCoins Жыл бұрын
Hi there! The diameter on those is 32.69mm so a capsule would need to be at least 33mm (I just checked and I don't currently have anything of that exact size but I'll keep an eye out for you!)

Why are you touching your coins with bare hands? Use cotton gloves my friend ;-) Our human oils aint good for coins ;-)
@ThompsonsCoins
@ThompsonsCoins Жыл бұрын
Hi William, that's a common misconception. If handled correctly it's not a problem. Issues occur when handled with dirty hands and if people touch the surfaces of coins. The top auction houses in the world as well as PCGS don't use gloves. You'd be hard pressed to find numismatists who handle coins using gloves. Thanks for watching!
