Great information. We start that hike in late August , it’s going to be hot , and it was really helpful to see how much shade/ tree cover/or lack there of.

Thank you so much, we are posting now every week so by the time you start you will have full visual guide of del Norte, and you will be prepared with everything! It was really hot beginning and mid may so i can only think about august.. Make sure to put a lot of sunscreen and a hat, what we would do sometimes wet your hat so it gives you nice refreshing feeling and when it gets dry just repeat the process, Buen Camino.

My favourite albergues were the one in Guemes (cabana del abuelo peuto), Albergue Lumen in Mondoñedo. and Viejo Lucas . In San Vicente I couldn't get a place in the albergue, and they sent me to a surfers' hostel, very nice but 2 km from the town.Albergue O Xistral in As Paredes was also very special (5km after Abadin)

Enjoyable watch you both compliment each other, 12/08/24 - 07/10/24 I travel from Australia and start at SJPDP to Irun to Primitivo onto Santiago, I may have to forego Finsterre/Muxia which I have done on other Camino's, so I can reverse back to SJPDP in 7 weeks I never have had to book ahead on 4 Camino's as I stay only in alburque's with other pilgrims, I do note some of your recommendation's with great alburque's I will look for these, I'm 68 and I do train hard and walk fast, luckily to never have had injuries so my preparation is based on Military workouts not necessary but that's my personal preference, blister's are no 1 priority vaseline I used last Camino every morning my feet felt amazing and no blister's, I was 2 weeks from Del Norte in 2023 when a work accident resulted in 2 knee surgeries, 9 mths recovery, fully rehabilitated, so thank you once again hope to see more of your adventures, and maybe Camino Portuguese, Lisboa/ Santiago

Thank you for sharing your experiences and knowledge. I am walking in July/August and have heeded your words of advice regarding accommodation. I was hoping to do it a traditonal manner but as I have looked ahead to make bookings in July and August it is difficult to find places. The options are limited and I am glad I got a heads up from you to look to book ahead. Many thanks and keep making such informative videos.

Thank you so much for being here with us and leaving such kind comments! Honestly we would usually book 2-3-4 days ahead and that would be okay, by the end joining Camino Frances we had to book 7 days ahead... Hope we can help more, if you have anymore question we are here to answer them :D

preparing for my first camino in about a month and feeling annoyed that its not like how it seems to have been in the past with everyone just walking and arriving at hostels without booking ahead. I'm really not going to want to have to worry about thinking ahead 😫
@ellieandsenci
@ellieandsenci Жыл бұрын
Yeah it changed.. we were first timers, and we came with a thought of just arriving and finding the accommodation for the night, and it worked for the first 7 days actually, then it started to be very difficult..Remember leaving Bilbao, arriving to Portugalete, we were even early around 14-15, impossible to find anything, at the end had to book a 90€ room for the evening in a Palace there, and since then it started being really hard. That's why we started booking just 2-3 days ahead and walk with a peace of mind that, we have a bed for tonight and don't have to rush our journey! BUEN CAMINO.

Thank you for your nice informative video. How much do you ‘pay’ in a donativo Albergue?
@ellieandsenci
@ellieandsenci Жыл бұрын
Hi, it is donativo so you give as much as you think the accommodation deserves! Honestly, we would usually leave 15-20$ per person, for just a bed, if there is dinner included we would leave more!

When exactly was this? I plan on walking this route in July. Do you think I need to book everything in advance? It’s my first Camino
@ellieandsenci
@ellieandsenci Жыл бұрын
Great, you’ll love it! This was in early May 2023. This is our first Camino too and I don’t think you need to book everything in advance (and it’s nice to be a bit flexible with your timeline in case you need an extra break for whatever reason) but we would recommend booking each accommodation just a few days in advance, to avoid any stress of not finding availability or affordable prices. Hope that helps!
