Baseline: a show doesn't have to have a deeper meaning to validate itself, and Shoresy's story/cast definitely stands on their own merits... But I really do feel like Shoresy is, in its own way, a love-letter to those suffering from depression, those plagued by missteps/failures, or those generally struggling in life. The starting point being a team that's lost twenty games... With management & a coach that want to fold the team, and a player (Shoresy) that becomes the rallying point/cry around which a team & town come together? The very message of not only getting back into the fight, but seeking (personal & professional) growth...? Dunno, maybe it's just me, but I think Shoresy works well not just as a comedy, a sports show, or a Letterkenny spin-off... But also as a very pointed message about staying in the fight and refusing to quit (and to keep one's eyes on the horizon when you can't help but fall short). Made the series feel like more than some fictional escapism, but a message I needed to hear in a creative way. Anyway, time to give my balls a tug.
