It's because colleges have the wrong incentives. Accounting Stuff needs to make engaging interesting videos that have value in order to keep you here. Colleges already have your money and don't care about making the material engaging. It's a big reason why our education system is broken.

Hey man. Correct me if I'm wrong. Since accountants make "estimations" of asset depreciation, it doesn't necessarily mean that the value of the assets drops directly. Therefore, we credit the "Accumulated depreciation" account instead of the asset account to have a more objective perspective. Thank you in advance.

In here, they don't use accumulated depreciation account but rather directly depreciation from long assets accounts so it's fun to see these differences. I'm taking this assumption with me while watching the video since i know straight line method is same everywhere

Hi, you are making great videos! Please continue with the gain or loss on disposal, revaluation of an asset and also please consider posting a video about different accounting periods-like year end, financial year and company's year end. Many thanks

Hey James. A vid on making a gain or loss on asset disposal would actually be quite useful. Plus, what asset disposal entries do you make when depreciating a capital asset with a residual value?

Here in 2023. IT guy in accounting class. I watch the lectures, then these videos, THEN I read the chapter. It’s working well. I think I understand this better than most of the accounting majors at this point.

Thank you for this channel's existence! I really learned a lot in the past 2 hours watching. I probably learned more today from your videos than last year learning it from school. Your explanations are simple and easy to understand. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!

I am a teacher in California who no longer can assign these videos in EdPuzzle. I am hoping you can allow access to them from your end. My students love your videos and EdPuzzle allows me to ensure watching and comprehension with embedded questions!

Hey there, my channel is being penalised for invalid traffic at the moment so I blocked embedded videos in an attempt to fix the issue. I hope to allow them again soon. Apologies for the inconvenience

I just did this in a section of my financial accounting class at WGU and I got whacked on a few questions because I couldn’t visualize the debits and credits right in the questions, I got the math right but I felt dumb over whether or not to debit or credit an “accumulated depreciation” account
