It's because colleges have the wrong incentives. Accounting Stuff needs to make engaging interesting videos that have value in order to keep you here. Colleges already have your money and don't care about making the material engaging. It's a big reason why our education system is broken.

Hey man. Correct me if I'm wrong. Since accountants make "estimations" of asset depreciation, it doesn't necessarily mean that the value of the assets drops directly. Therefore, we credit the "Accumulated depreciation" account instead of the asset account to have a more objective perspective. Thank you in advance.

In here, they don't use accumulated depreciation account but rather directly depreciation from long assets accounts so it's fun to see these differences. I'm taking this assumption with me while watching the video since i know straight line method is same everywhere
