Hey I’m following this and at the start of the cable stitch I did 116 chains as I’m doing a m/k size and it ends with 3 double crochets at the end after I’ve done the last cable stitch

Yes, you can use yarn size of your choice. Hook size depends on what you like. The tutorial is measurements based so it really doesn’t matter what size you use. I just believe a smaller hook or size down results in neater stitches.

There is no written pattern, but I included the number of chains you need. Measurements is shoulder to shoulder add 9 inches.

Well, check how you start and finish your rows. Especially the single crochet row, that’s where you loose stitches if you forget to put a single crochet on top of chain3
