When I started speaking English in front of people I was freaking out, I knew that I continue learning with trial and error. I thought in a point that I was ready to speak with native speakers but I had to start from scratch my own learning, I took this decision with wholeheartedly. Thanks Lisa for worthwhile videos!!

I immigrated fr China to Singapore 18yrs ago. B4 tat i had nvr really spoken English. Then i so used 2 SingEnglish n I hav difficulties when communicating with other English speaking people. I hav been watching a lot of America drama although to enjoy the drama i always keep the Chinese title on but it does help. Recently when im doing housework i listen yutube like English with Lucy (British) n Accurate English n other yutubers who teach english. These two ladies r amazing! N I feel Lisa really the teacher type who knows how 2 teach! Besides all her great explanations, she inserts meaningful n helpful pic which all show her effort 2 make her teaching effective n interesting!

Your upcoming videos of this kind are keenly anticipated, love it. A note for the lesson: 1. to make a power move - an important decision or action that has a big impact; an aggressive decision that shows confidence and strength 2. a couple of - a few 3. a beat up minivan - old car; damaged or in bad condition 4. to start from scratch - to start from the beginning; to start from nothing 5. to fend for oneself - to take care of oneself without any help; without anyone’s support 6. to freak out (slang) - to panic; to get scared; to have strong emotional response 7. (by) trial and error - try to find the best way to solve a problem by trying different methods; learn from your mistakes and keep improving 8. pretty much - almost; nearly 9. to put/set one’s mind to sth - to decide to do sth and to try very hard to achieve it
; to put one's back into sth (You can improve your English if you put your mind to it) 10. wholeheartedly - without any hesitation; completely; with one’s whole heart
(I agree with you wholeheartedly) 11. to lead (lead-led-led) sb to do sth - to motivate sb to do sth 12. to get around - to travel; to move from place to place
(In this city it’s very difficult to get around if you don’t have a car) 13. an RV - a camper; recreational vehicle; motor home
(to rent an RV) 14. a bike - bicycle; motorcycle 15. like none other - very special; unique; nothing else compares to it
(That performance was like none other)
(Because of the pandemic, the year 2020 was like none other) 16. to get out of one’s/the way - to move out of sb’s path; to move to the side when you’re blocking sb’s path
 (Get out of my way)
(Can you please get out of the way? I can’t see the TV screen) 17. to split between lanes, a lane - a part of a highway
(I turn on my blinker before I change lanes) 18. to bump into sth - to hit sth lightly, just a little bit (e.g. to bump into a car, a motorcycle) 19. road rage - anger between drivers manifested by actions such as yelling, honking their horn, making disrespectful gestures with their hands (rage = a lot of anger) (There’s a lot of road rage out there, in NY) 20. all day/week/year long - continuously; for the entire day/week/year

Fend for myself: I growed up in a poor family, have learned how to fend for myself since I left home at 18. Power move: I made a power move from China to Canada by myself 18 years ago. Beat up mini van. I bought a beat up bike after I got my first pay check of my first job. Most of the students buy beat up cars when they are in school and spending parent's money. Trial and error : try to find the best way to learn. I started my first teaching be a teacher this year, it was trail and error experience. Put my mind to: when I try to learn taiji, I out my mind to learn it, I did it. Wholeheartly.,,,,,,,, What? What led you here to London? Get around, it is very difficult to get around without a car in Canada. It is very easy to get around in China without a car. Like none other: year 2020 was like none other.
