I've had the same issue with these Accurite sensors in the past. It seems like that they are purposely built to fail after only about a couple years of use, no matter how much you try to protect them from direct contact with the outdoor elements. Nothing is built to last nowadays unfortunately.

that's why i wish things we're made here in the USA again but i don't think it's ever coming back and that's sad .. hopefully you can get it fixed or switch to a new system

Things aee more expensive to make here in the US, and things have been made in china for years that worked just fine. Parts are pretty much "Junk" now.

I just took mine apart based on your video and found nothing internal wrong with it. But I did have green corrosion on the spring contacts. I gave them a good scraping with a screwdriver and put it back together, now its working. The corrosion is between the spring and the metal contact below it. I put it back together with dielectric silicon grease on all 4 contact points to hopefully prevent future corrosion. Take a really close at the spring wire contact area joint to the base metal and look for corrosion.

Yup, me too …. I have had so many Acurite transmitter failures (with good batteries) over the years where the transmitter either just stops transmitting OR looses sync to the receivers. I have to wonder if the transmitters are just going off frequency and the receivers can not pick them up. All the receivers report a strong signal and then no signal at all while the transmitter still reports it is transmitting via the led indicator. Then it takes me forever to try to re-sync the units back again …. What a pain they are.

I have no idea what the failure mode is. I'm sure it's probably not something that's easily repaired. I've tried other brands of this equipment before and get the same results. The stuff is just made too cheap to stand up to being out in the elements constantly.

I had a Acurite 3 in 1 unit where it failed in about a year because ants built a nest inside and corroded it. I guess they just fail over time due to humidity and such getting inside too. I've noticed the basic indoor/outdoor wireless thermometers have gone up, they used to be $10 and now are $16-17. I got a LaCrosse Technology basic one to replace ours recently, seems OK so far.

I wonder if it got water damage since it was outside. Also, I wonder if there are older wireless thermometers that are higher quality.

Could be from humidity or condensation over the years of heating up and cooling down.

Mine is about three years old, in my crawlspace, which is encapsulated so year round 60° and 30 to 50% humidity… Open the device up and see no visual corrosion… Debating breaking out a soldering iron and re-doing the battery terminals

I'd be curious to know if you're able to fix it, but it's probably not worth the time. I've had many of these over the years and never had one last more than a few seasons, most of the time with no indicator of what the failure is.

You have to put the batteries in the outdoor sensor first & then the indoor main one ! If this doesn't work try changing channels

My friend thinks his dial gauge is accurate on the east North side of the corner of the house under the corner of this shaded [patio in Arizona., I don't believe it's a compared to the actual airport or city online information. Who's correct me or him?
