Today's Accurize Moment comes fast, and is brought to you by Mainland Springs. Crystal. Clear. Water. Accurize is cooking up a storm, but leaving poor Astrid exhausted, dehydrated and starving while she's low on health, and closing in on Death's Door. The last sleep, fading into The Long Dark, yet he's got the food, water and bedroll to rectify at least some of those situations and at least limit the damage. I'm Momentizing this before the Accurize Moment is done, so maybe he catches his Moment in time? Hope he catches it before Astrid's in the red and staggering around like a drunk! A good takeaway from this it to make sure to check your statuses before advancing time. PS: Looks like he did realize his Moment in time to save Astrid! So she may not fade into The Long Dark, but get to retire in Camp Office, as per Accurize's plans. Long may this Astrid live off the lands of Mystery Lake if that future is meant to be!

I read an article from Hinterland a while back and they said moose don't bleed out like other animals. Also, I found if you crouch you can get REAL close to any animal without being seen. Great way to ensure get one shot kills. Just crouch in their path and let them come to you. Then shoot from crouched position. If you want to drop weight then drop that heavy hammer. I normally hunt deer that way. Moose…nope! If you miss, your trampled with broken ribs. That might be the worst injury in the game imho. Had it once, never ever want that again. 😂

Accurize, regarding moose, I think you did hit on that first long range shot. Thing is, moose don't bleed out, so you have to get an instant kill to get a moose, I'm guessing by your behavior you'd forgotten that while recording this episode, as it seems like you were expecting that moose to bleed out. Also, as a recap, you've killed 2 moose before this episode. Moose Kill #1 was in Ash Canyon, when that moose at the base of the long triple rope climb charged you and you emptied your revolver into it. Moose Kill #2 was outside of Milton, when you were camping at the cave to HRV and waiting a long time for the moose to finally show up.

That’s right. They don’t bleed out, which seems weird. Moose #1 wasn’t me emptying my revolver, it was one (maybe two) lucky shots…somehow. Still amazed by dropping that one. 😮

@@Accurize2 I've found the revolver is the 2nd best option for pure defense vs charging moose or bears, due to the very fast RoF. The best option obviously being the flare gun due to the near guaranteed scare off. The rifle's actually pretty low tier for me in dealing with moose or bear charges even though it's got the most stopping power because it usually won't stop them in a single shot anyways and it's too slow most of the time to get a 2nd shot off.

I've had some funny reactions with the TImberwolves of Blackrock too. I'll have times where they'll be inexplicably afraid of me for no apparent reason, and other times when their pack morale's been just broken moment's ago when they'll just instantly reset and re-engage, again, for no apparent reason. Carrying something smelly can trigger them to reset their morale faster, but not instantly and I wasn't carrying anything smelly when that happened. The fear could have been a result of the bearskin coat I was wearing, which you're also wearing, as that does have a chance of fear on wolves. I've also noticed wolf fear, when triggered, seems to chain up since one of the updates, so if a wolf gets scared, and gets triggered soon after having been afraid, it seems to be vastly more likely to get scared again, at least until enough time's passed for it to fully reset. If wolf fear chain reacting is an intentional update, then I like it as it makes things more realistic, a wolf scared once, would not suddenly be unafraid of the same thing that scared it moments ago after all.

Pretty sure what was scaring the wolves was your wolf coat. The logic is, they see you as the biggest wolf they've ever seen, and you're not part of their pack.

FYI, I don't believe moose suffer from blood loss. That is why it survived your shot from the previous night. I've only ever killed them in game by shooting them until they drop.

Oh also if I was you I would test one of the noise makers first, personally I think there are not worth making as need about 3/4 of them to spook off wolf packs 👍
