Love Corey Deuel. He is at his best when the game he's playing requires extreme creativity and strategy. I think he gets a little bored with the more straightforward games and then gets a little careless. Awesome to see him so deeply focused.

Now that was a bank pool match for the ages. I was curious since both Shaw and Deuel are both amazing at finding great shots how they were going to play each other. The safety play was amazing just for speed control. And the first game that Corey had work for every bank was incredible. Who wants a rematch?

Best line: Varner, Those are some big points. Then after the center pocket hit: "like Buddy hall says, there ain't nothin' in the way between those two points" paraphrased. Best player action: Jayson, giving the ball straddling the pocket radius a sit command, just like you would a dog, finger and all. Funny. Best almost completed shot:\ Jason, trying to sink the deeply pocket embedded nine, off a completed bank at the other end two rails off the object ball carom. Completed, I expect that would have been the shot of the match, especially if he had capitalized on it for the game win. which with Shaw is a definite high probability outcome. Some of Corey's play was insanely impressive, especially the three not remotely gimme shots in a row. On many of his shots it wouldn't have mattered if the pockets were TWO and a half wide, pyramid style. There's a fun vid on YT of Corey playing an excellent amateur in pyramid that is very interesting if you've never seen it. Talk about a frustrating stick and table game. I think three cushion is about the only other one on that level of shot for shot difficulty, actually a bit above it. If you watch I guarantee you will see a few instances of balls doing things you NEVER see in any other pool type game, like seemingly instantaneous stops in pocket mouths on a high speed shot. Obvious what is happening, but it will still take you aback. Varner's insightful commentary is always educational, and entertaining, and this was certainly no exception. You could see where his immense knowledge even trumped Mark's on a few occasions, and Mark is no dummy. I'm guessing in Nick's day he was probably a pretty good player (kidding). My take, any time you can get him, please do. One night I was practicing banks and caroms and stuff and somebody, who obviously didn't know a lot about pool told me I was really talented. I laughed and said see that guy over there? That's Nick Varner, hall of famer, and guys ten levels down from him would DESTROY me.

They were all drop pockets but the scratch by Jayson fell in from at least an inch down the end rail.
