Thanks so much 😊 Bulova do make some cool pieces! And a hi beat quartz is a cool movement imo 👌

Very nice watch, but a ghost date? I expect this from budget watches, like my AliExpress type B flieger that I bought for about a hundred bucks. A ghost date on a nice watch like this feels like a corner was cut. Thanks for another great video.

I did have an Accutron space view some years ago with a back knob for setting the time and it use to hum . Ps what's a spirographh must be way before my time. 😊
@TheWatchBoxDiaries2 ай бұрын
Did you like it? Was it meant to hum? 😂 Haha maybe it was more of a British thing!
@handsandcogs31712 ай бұрын
@@TheWatchBoxDiaries I think the hum was from the tuning fork ??

I’ve been eyeing up a 1966 Bulova Accutron Space View with an asymmetric (American) ‘Football’ style case just like the style of case on the Watch you are showing Lucy. I didn’t realise that the Accutron division was split from Bulova and it is very interesting to learn that they relaunched in the year 2000 and over 20 years later are still reviving their classic case designs. I’m a fan. I get your sentiments about the ghost date position on the crown. Quite bemusing for a non Watch nerd I guess? Especially since this isn’t indicated in the manual. The hands look quite nice I think, especially on a Women’s Watch. I would be interested to see some other Watches from the revived Accutron brand and will be doing some digging! Great video of a ‘brand’ I wasn’t aware of here Lucy (I merely thought that Accutron was a model of Bulova Watch) so, thank you for opening my eyes to the brand. Hopefully they’ll send you some other Watches to review! 🤞

That's a really cool looking watch! It combines the design I love so much in this with the technology and brand aesthetics of the standard (and recognisable) BA. It's interesting they're now their own brand but I'm interested to see where they go in terms of design. I'm glad I could bring it to people's attention. :) Hopefully you've learned a few things and been entertained along the way! haha I'd love to get hands on with one of their electrostatic watches actually. It's technology I've not come across in a watch before!

I have an Accutron Legacy 1974. I love the 70's case design. But I really dislike the tiny crown. It's so small that I cannot use it to wind the watch. I have to shake it in order to get it to start ticking. I am strongly considering parting with it despite the very cool design.

I really like the design of the case. The hands seem like a very late after thought, they add nothing to the design. With a better hand set, it could be a very elegant watch. Once again another great video, and I offer my comment sacrifice to the algorithm gods in hopes of helping this channel grow.
@TheWatchBoxDiaries2 ай бұрын
😂 thank you Charles! Your sacrifice has been accepted! Yes! My thoughts on it exactly. I almost wish they'd kept it full dress aesthetics and given the dial more dress watch hands and indices. But I'm still pretty happy with it!

Controversial take on this one: Pretty watch, awful concept. Accutron, what are you doing? They are reviving a brand that has one sole claim to fame: they invented and popularized the tuning fork watch during that tiny five-to-ten-year window when that was relevant, before quartz made the whole technology obsolete. So, while I applaud their enthusiasm for the old Bulova designs (somebody working in *modern* Bulova's design department should take a good hard look at those old gems), I'm also like, what the heck? Automatic movements? In a watch whose whole reason to exist is that it replaced automatic movements with a new, more accurate technology? Why? I understand that the modern watch aficionado, who clearly is the target group for this whole brand revival, will typically prefer a mechanical movement over anything electronic. But here? How cool would it have been if Accutron had updated the tuning fork technology, made it more robust and given it longer battery life, and reintroduced this retro-futuristic technology? In that case, I might even be tempted to buy some of their pieces. As it stands, I can only admire a bunch of nice watch cases... with the wrong movement inside.

Actually some VERY valid points made here. I’m currently looking at a 1966 Space View. I agree, it would be SO cool if Accutron had maybe stuck to their guns and revived the Tuning Fork technology. Maybe they are? I don’t know enough about the company to be honest with you. I guess not being part of Bulova anymore they are looking to the future as an independent company and taking design cues from the past and merging those with modern movements.

You've made some great points in terms of the brand to watch connection. Having an automatic watch from a brand who pride themselves on their past technological advancements may seem a little...wrong. The tuning fork technology is part of their heritage, so development of that would be a great avenue for them. Maybe that's in the works? But I do also feel that although they have that history, they want to show they can move with the times and provide alternatives (I love an automatic movement). Their electrostatic technology for example. This particular watch is aimed more towards ladies and a more vintage aesthetic, which I feel an auto movement works in. It's more about design than movement. Loved reading this though! Really made me think!
