It is rated adequately in my opinion. Dual Destinies has a lot of good stuff and is enjoyable, but it also has plenty of flaws that I cannot ignore.

@@hylianmono The reasons for not allowing investigation in some areas in part 1 of case 3 being tough to justify, the entire abandonment of Apollo Justice with all the plot and character development from it despite "borrowing" all the "cool stuff" from it, the fact that Phoenix is back on trial duty and is acting like an inexperienced buffoon despite literal ages of theoretical experience, three games of expertise and an entire convoluted plan of Apollo Justice behind him... Also the fact that "the dark age of the law" both sounds excessively lame and is very limited in demonstration. It is spoken about, yes, and it has some effect on the third case, but it does nothing to affect the player and the characters we control. Same issue is with Spirit of Justice and all the talk about how nice and attentive Nahyuta is outside of the courtroom. We barely see it and only hear the comments, yet what we receive, constantly, are brutal and unstoppable insults, bead punishment and, in Athena's case, deliberate PTSD trigger. The writers love to tell but forget to show, which make all this lose significant impact.

before that you should listen to the professor layton vs phoenix wright soundtrack! working on the crossover inspired shu takumi (creator of ace attorney) to make tgaa. if you watch a play through of the crossover you’ll see how not just the music, but the sprites (which look more like tgaa sprites than dual destinies or spirit of justice sprites), the 3d objection (with the panning shot as it zooms in towards the character), the gallery panning, and most importantly the mob cross examination (which inspired the addition of a jury to tgaa) and how they all inspired the creation and mechanics present in tgaa. fully recommend watching a play through of professor layton vs phoenix wright or at least listening to the soundtrack and you’ll see where all the things you love about tgaa come from. also you don’t need to know anything about professor layton or the franchise they’re introduced in the game and it makes sense without the backstory since they don’t reference anything that’s happened in the main pl franchise in game. highly recommend! favorite song in the plvspw sound track is the mob cross examination allegro, you should check that out ^_^

I have two suggestions for soundtracks worth listening to: 1. NeoTokyo It's the first major work of Ed Harrison, the composer of the modern Deus Ex soundtracks. NeoTokyo is a game only few people have played, but the very unique soundtrack still reaches people to this day. 2. Haven French electronic musician Danger already contributed to other indie game soundtracks like Furi (also very worth listening to), but for Haven he got the chance to compose the entire soundtrack by himself. He really managed to give this album it's own identity.

Some interesting things about this game’s cross-examination theme: The time signature is 7/4. The chord always changes on beat 1, but the four notes of the melody are always on the off-beats ( 6 *&* 7 *&* 1 *&* 2 *&* ). When it starts, the first two notes are pickup notes, but it tricks you into thinking beat 1 is halfway through beat 6, so you think the chord changes aren’t on beat 1. The song makes you ask, “Is beat 1 when the melody starts or when each new chord starts?” Then in the Allegro version, the drums clear up the confusion by marking the beats, showing you that beat 1 is on the chord changes. It grounds you and makes it easier to understand what’s going on. The music captures the feeling of an Ace Attorney cross-examination. When you meet a new witness, you start lost and confused, trying to find something to latch on to. And as you keep unraveling the witness’ testimony, things start to become clearer and easier to understand.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the newest one and has lots of great music, but Kirby Planet Robobot also has some of the best music the series has to offer.
