My slightly older cousin Nige had an orange MK1, which I loved. My parents bought me a new Chopper for my birthday, which looked great (in red) but I was slightly disappointed as it turned out to be the MK2, no bringing the handlebars back and different gear lever, a t-bar as opposed to the knob (I wasn't over keen on the rear rack either!) But it lasted out the late 70s, being customised with cool stickers and a tiny portable radio stuck between the twin crossbars near the gear change. Years later, in the late 80s it sat in the shed, alongside my GP150. I let my eldest brother take it, apparently for a local kid where he lived; pretty sure looking back it was bullshit and he ripped me off, but never mind. My biggest regret is no photos from the period... An interesting watch, especially the black early model, not seen that before. Cheers!

Now you come to mention it I too remember some lads putting a radio between the handlebars ! And some of these bikes now are worth £2000 ! If only we knew then what we know now ! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🍻

I had a grape 69 3+2 , a pumpkin orange 10speed with rare slick rear tyre and a mk 1 5 speed All with leather seats and orange band
