I went through this curriculum from 5th through 11th grade, both private and later at home. Freshman year high school, mom goofed and ordered college-level English PACEs and couldn't return them, so I was forced to work through them and accidentally got smarter than I was supposed to.

I go to an A.C.E school now and I really like it better than public school because you actually get the concept of what your doing especially with the Math and English paces because they will put so many questions and have you do the same thing over and over til you get the concept. And it seems like the Homeschool version of the program is the exact same setup as the school I go to. We get our own offices and we also use the flags as well. The only thing I am not quite a fan of is that you don’t get as much social time but beside that it’s a very nice learning experience.

I was in a private school for several years and we used this same material. In all honesty, I learned WAY more in private school then I ever did in public.

And how about if the dont pass the test? What do you do? They erase the all pace? Or what is your method? 🙏
@Handkerchiefgal3 жыл бұрын
IF they don't pass the test I have them erase the pace or , if I have an extra pace I have them retake that one. Usually erasing seems to help the information stick better. I have them erase it and then I go through all the checkups and make sure they can't see what they wrote. Sometimes I copy them if needed.

Wow! You’re amazing! I am very nervous about going from homeschooling 2 to 4 next year… we have always exclusively used ACE, but I’m trying to figure out how am I going to grade 3 students and figure out K4 material for my youngest… I’ll grade everything of theirs myself, but I’m considering teaching them how to score maybe each others work… My boys are a little sneaky and have been caught cheating before. I know that kids are going to be kids but I would like to make sure they are understanding their work and I can see that as I’m going through and checking and grading everything. But how do you keep up with so many different Paces to grade!?
@Handkerchiefgal Жыл бұрын
I share some about cheating and how I catch it on this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpfSpahmitp_pLs. I score my kid’s work after they score it to catch some of these things!

Hi I’m quite new to the lca system and I was wondering how do you use the scoring boxes?
@Handkerchiefgal Жыл бұрын
I think I showed that on this video. If not check out our 2nd day in the life! We have a filing cabinet that we pull out and keep the score keys in, the kids score next to it or use the top as a score table!

Was I supposed to be keeping all the tests??? Everything else I've seen they say to just record the score and throw away the papers. 🥺
@Handkerchiefgal3 жыл бұрын
For high school you may want to keep them. I keep them because if requirements in my state ever change then I can prove what they’ve done. So far I’ve only had to do it with the one graduating this year.

How long a pace take to finish? Is it a week? Month? Btw, love how you have everything in order.
@Handkerchiefgal3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! A pace can take between 2-3 weeks to finish. It all depends on how many pages a day you do school and how many long the pace is!

I have a question: Do your kids do all 7 subjects in one day? This is my first year HS and as a single Mom and using ACE. I broke her schedule up doing some subjects MWF and the other on TU and THU. Just needing advice. Seems like a lot to do. I also still have to work so not sure if we have time to do all 7 in one day.
@crazychicken40632 жыл бұрын
When we used the ACE curriculum we did schedule all the subjects each day... English, math, science, social studies, literature, Bible, word building.. okay so that's a lot. We didn't use all the subjects from the ace curriculum though. We didn't use the Bible or the word building. At one point we also did something different for the literature as well. The thing is, this is your homeschool, your schedule, your child\children. You do what works for your family. 🙂 It will be okay.
@Handkerchiefgal Жыл бұрын
Yes and no…we do Math, English, Social Studies, Science, and Word building (and for some grades, Literature.) Each day. I have heard of breaking them up but with so many kids I really value just doing each one each day! Also I did it as did my whole school so I go in with the perspective that each of my kids CAN. I’ve found this truly effects them more than anything. If I think it’s doable then they adapt my attitude. But if you found a method that works then go with it! Same results!

I'm definitely not understanding the testing process. The grading etc. The company just refers you back to the packet you get which isn't helpful. This is our first year with a.c.e. and my daughter's first year of highschool.
