Today we show how we put together our homeschool student binders using ACE Curriculum. Everything we need for school goes in the binder, except for Literature books. (Magazine strips from Amazon- Rubbermaid 3-Hole Plastic Edge Strip Magazine Holders.)

Wow, that is one organized, nice, neat, and tidy binder! A whole school within a binder. Good video. We used ACE for one or two subjects a few years ago, we didn't like it, but it's a very popular curriculum. Very nice binder!

Andrea Mills, you are fabulous. God bless you. ACE totally rocks and so do you. We did ACE for our kids for 11 years and I absolutely loved it. They did too. Forget the ACE, I had no idea of home schooling as I grew up outside USA, in India. I went to a private christian school, as well secular schools so getting to know that in ACE PACES start teaching the world made by God just warmed up my heart. God called me to homeschool and kids aced all tests, and were in 100s all the time. Thank God. Now our kids are in college so I so appreciate seeing you doing this for so many parents who have no idea. I actually did the training in Africa and kept the official videos but in the beginning coming from a business world, I used to cry that I wont be able to do a good job but we did great as we learned the system. My kids picked well as few of my friends who did ACE helped along the way and in no time we started doing on our own. I wish you tube was there when I started doing. hahaha...You are fabulous and so full of encouragement and details. Administration is my forte as well so I totally appreciate this. I made my own binders and transparent sheets as you have done. This is so good and I am going to share with my friends who may want to start doing this. I always get asked so this is a good tool. You are blessing so many. Please keep doing this great job and be encouraged. May God reward you for this.

I LOVE this. I have been homeschooling for about 3 years now and every year I have to change things around. This year we started with SOME ACE but not doing it for every subject at the moment and I am finding that it simplifies things for me a lot. I love this binder idea because I live in a small house and find it difficult to get organized. I live in Ireland and we are required by law to register our homeschooled children with the government so I think something like these binders would be a great idea to show the TUSLA people when they show up for an inspection. At the moment, if they showed up I would be scrambling around trying to figure out what to present to them because I am SO disorganized. I’m definitely going to use this idea next year. Thanks for sharing. I love all your videos. Especially your Walmart shopping ones because I am American and I really miss Walmart. 😆

I just love all you do switching to ace from a very eclectic relaxed stage of homeschooling and I have problems with consistenty so hoping this helps me to structure at least homeschooling and pass on to other parts of life. I would love to see how you do things for homeschooling outside of ace. I envision doing things such as read alouds from ( sunlight reading list etc). Nature studies and such. I have watched so many of your videos and am inspired thank you so much for all these great ideas. If I had as much organization in your pinky life would be great. Thanks

Tom, this video might be helpful for starting the new school year, when each child gets a new binder. I like it because there's no talking. Saw from comments that someone pointed out the clothing inventory one. Maybe you could find "Fall/Winter Clothing Inventory" chart on her computer instead of watching the video. There's also a blank chart - no names or colors - on her blog if you go to Free Printables, then Organization, then go to the end of Matching Colors and there's also a short written description of her system.

I actually went to a school that used the ACE curriculum and found it to be quite helpful. I considered using for my daughter, but I choose to use Time4learning with instead, because I only had one child, and didn't feel it was an economical choice for just one kid. Plus, she learns really well online and likes their videos. I do implement with field trips and hands on activities though. I also use binders to organize all of her online report cards and her essays I have her write after a trip.

I had seen a few of your vidoes when looking for something else related to homeschooling. I have been praying about this curriculum as the thing we are using now isn't working for my son. Your videos would pop up on my side screen whether or not I was looking for homeschooling stuff or not. So today I withdrew my son from an online christian school that was using all computer based curriculum and I am now in the process of enrolling him in an online school that uses the PACE's. I tend to be an organized person to start with, but this just gave me some better ideas on how to keep things together for when he goes to dad's house. One question, do you put all their paces in there or just the ones they are working on at the time. I have a 10th grader that I will be using this with, so what size binder would you recommend using for highschool?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
We only put PACEs in it that are currently in use. The rest of the PACEs are kept in the file cabinet. A 1 1/2" binder will probably fit all of the PACEs, but if you want to add paper, a pencil bag, etc. for a highschooler I'd say a 2" binder would be better.

+Andrea Mills, Thank you for these videos. Currently I am using Heart of Dakota and I really love it but my friend just introduced me to ACE. It's so much cheaper than HOD and I am wondering, can I still plan the fun activities and things with ACE? HOD includes arts and crafts and fun sceince activites... How can I use ACE and still do the fun things that my little kids (ages 6, 5, and 2 1/2) and make memories with them while theyre little? Thanks!
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 8 жыл бұрын
+Kelly Moore Ace does include some science projects, mostly in the older elementary stage. I've only ever used ACE, so I have nothing to compare it to. However, I like that all the academics are covered and I spend my planning time on preparing fun things for us to do. I enjoy arts & crafts, my husband teaches the kids Greek and we try to spend a lot of time outdoors playing games, exploring and working on Nature Notebooks. My oldest son (8th grade) needs about 4 hour a day to finish his school work. My other kids can finish in about 1.5- 3 hours. (Unless we're having one of "those" days!) That leaves us plenty of time to do fun activities together.

I love watching your videos! We just recently bought ACE English and Math PACES for our kids and they like it! My son is having a little trouble adjusting because he was in the public school system for 6 yrs. I do have a question. I noticed you have a sticker for the multiplication table. Do your children rely on it instead of multiplying on their own? I think this is a great idea but my son still doesn't know his multiplication facts by memory and I am afraid that he would not learn them if he depends on the table all the time.

I let them use it if they feel like they need it, but if they're struggling we like to use Math Machines to practice. They get much faster with their math facts. Hi again ❤️ what type of memory work do you include in the binder ..does the sheet come from ACE store and how about the book report form?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Carmen, For our Scripture memory, I copy a chapter of the Bible from an on-line Bible into a Word document and then "clean it up" a little (change the font, size it for the page, etc.) and add a little line at the beginning of each verse for me to initial. We started with the first book of Proverbs and I assign 2-12 verses per month to memorize. (1st grade is 2, 2nd is 4, 3rd is 6 until we max out at 12.) They must be able say the whole month's selection at once. I mark a line for how far they need to go that month and then make a new line for the next month. Once they finish a chapter we move on to the next chapter. I keep adding new chapters to my Word document and just print out whichever one someone needs when they need it. My book report form is one I made, but I also sometimes just find one on-line and print it out for the kids. There are any number of them out there.

To begin with you have to buy the paces and the score keys, so its more the first time, but you can reuse the score keys for other kids. Right now I pay about 3.30 per workbook, and they do about 12 a year in each subject.

It's a Brother P-touch. It's PC-Compatible so you can design the labels on your computer and print them on the label maker. This one is similar to mine: www.amazon.com/Brother-Connectable-Label-Maker-PT-P700/dp/B00DSYEB28/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1486052917&sr=8-10&keywords=brother+p+touch+label+maker

Andrea...what label maker do you have?

It's a Brother P-touch PC Compatible label maker. My model is getting old, but they still make newer models. They use little cassettes that have different sizes and colors of label tape. It plugs into my laptop with a USB cable so you can design labels on the computer and print them out. I love it and use it all the time!

I love all the simple grammatical mistakes in a video made by someone who is supposed to be teaching children. Thomas' implies it belongs to multiple Thoma. That isn't the only one, it was just the funniest.

For your further entertainment from grammarbook.com: Rule 1: Many common nouns end in the letter s (lens, cactus, bus, etc.). So do a lot of proper nouns (Mr. Jones, Texas, Christmas). There are conflicting policies and theories about how to show possession when writing such nouns. There is no right answer; the best advice is to choose a formula and stay consistent. Some writers and editors add ’s to every proper noun, be it Hastings’s or Jones’s. And there are a few who add only an apostrophe to all nouns ending in s-however, this method is relatively rare, and not recommended here. One method, common in newspapers and magazines, is to add an apostrophe plus s (-’s) to common nouns ending in s, but only a stand-alone apostrophe to proper nouns ending in s. [as in the possessive form of Thomas ie Thomas'.]

Actually, I just didn't get the notification. I talked to my English teacher about this and she said that what Andrea said just isn't true. But I don't tend to waste my time arguing with people who only recently decided to accept evolution.

Then why are you arguing (and mocking, in your original post)? You brought it up. My entire reply to your comment was a quote from grammarbook.com; I didn't write it. Maybe your teach disagrees with them, too. At any rate, this entire conversation was an unnecessary snooze-fest. I don't even get your last statement. I still don't accept evolution. If you were a thinker, you wouldn't either.

I was taught in a public government school to put the apostrophe after the s in a word that ends in an s too. This was relevant to me at the time, since my brother's name ends in an s (James). I have also used this method currently in college writing without issue. I have been homeschooling for three years now and this is the method I am teaching my daughter as well. Thanks for the helpful content Andrea. Don't let the haters get you down!
