It was done for charity, not profit and royalties were paid out to the license holders. There is a campaign in America called "Save The Music" which pushes to keep music programs in the public school systems because when budget cuts happen, music education is usually the first thing to go. This song was recreated and sold to raise funding and awareness for the "Save The Music" campaign. No thievery here at all.
