Thank you for this video, question please my system has 4 chambers from collection to chlorine chamber, my alarm went off, it was time to have it pumped so I did but my light still on, will the light go off after the chambers start to fill ? And how long for the water in trash tank to move to the next chamber? Thank you.
@123Goldhunter117 жыл бұрын
Regular check valves on a sludge judge gives you a false reading because they stay shut until they reach the bottom and then you get a big rush of fluid displacing the air in the tube. Perhaps your check valve has a plastic ball in it that allows it to stay open until you lift it. If not you will get much more sediment in the tube then is in the bottom of the tank.

Gold Hunter this is correct. I’ve had that problem before! I use a manual trapdoor string operated.

I was told the diffuser for the aeration pump needs to be replaced annually. I assume it is in the trash tank. When I remove the lid to the trash tank, I see a large air hose coming out of the side of the riser leading into a large PVC pipe on the opposite side of the tank. will the diffuser be on the end of this air hose??
@JerodMatlock6 жыл бұрын
The diffuser is in the clarifier tank. The sewage flows first into the black tank, then the clarifier tank, and finally the discharge tank. You'll see a PVC union in your clarifier tank with a PVC air line that drops down into the tank. Turn off power. Remove the union and lift out the PVC air line. At the end of the PVC air line (there may also be a flexible hose) you will see the diffuser. Unscrew the diffuser, screw on a new one, and drop the assembly back into the tank and reattach the union.
@davejoseph56155 жыл бұрын
Yeah, why was that tank lid buried when you need to replace the diffuser every few years? Also I want to ask -- how high should the diffuser be above the bottom of the tank?

for the hose that cracks in the sun, why not throw a black plastic shroud (i.e. pipe) around it? voila, no cracking from the sun, no sun.

Funny, Septic systems that were installed 30 yrs ago and before worked great and keep working as long as you keep the Bacteria Levels up. My parents installed one in the 50s and we NEVER had to have it "Maintained" (Pumped out) and it's still working. Seems the county Engineers and the Septic Contractors have "Worked out a little deal" to keep them in business. How Sad.

Prob because the leach field isn't working. When the leach field becomes water logged, it creates fractures in the soil and essentially discharges into a body of water or will surface on the ground. The tank can last long but the leach field can't.

Can you please make a video of your parents system? And keep the comments ON. People learn from the video, but also from comments.

You are right about county leeches having to step into the rural folks lives and take money, time, and hassle by forcing folks to have these systems. It's nothing but a racket. What might have started out as solving a problem( getting rid of human waste) only morphs into crooked sewer system companies that gouge folks for this service and the items that need repairing.
@tylerallen73554 жыл бұрын
We get people all the time saying they haven’t pumped their system and never had a problem. But when they do finally have that problem it’s typically 100 percent failed with no options to repair requiring a whole new system. Where as if they would have maintained it it would have been fine or partly salvageable

Why does the pump chamber pipes have valves that can be turned on and off? Most chambers just have a pipe coming from the pump and hooks to the discharge pipe with a union. All the floats are on that pipe down to the pump.

That system appeared to be a leech eclipse system which in that case would that have chlorine addition I guess I'm a little confused as to why you added chlorine to it since it didn't have the sprinkler system

Hi. What about if there's not red light on or alarms. And the areator sounds like is working, the wayer comes out of the sprinklers very sticky. What should be the problem? They pumped the septic one year ago and also replace the areator in december 2018....
@trailerparkcryptoking52133 жыл бұрын
You could have a leak in the air line between the air pump and the air diffuser, there not getting the air needed for the aerobic reaction. Soils with a lot of clay swell and contract as the get wet from rain and dry out. This can pull connections a part underground. Walk the areas where you think the line runs and listen for a hissing sound. I just stumbled on this hissing sound in my backyard, dug it up to find this. Got to thinking my sprinkler discharge has been smelling bad for a while....hope this helps!

I have a 9 year old aeration system here in Ohio. We have a “service contract” and the system is check twice yearly. In the past year, we had a new service provider come out. He was here for five minutes and told us we needed to have the system pumped, which we did. Now, several months later our alarm is going off. I pulled the tank covers and on the pump tank to the leach field someone opened the red valve part way (minute 4:45) of your video. My pump I assume has been running nonstop since water is coming out that valve. I went ahead and closed it to see if the water level In my pump tank goes down and the alarm shuts off. Does this seem like the right thing to do? I took a video of the water coming out that valve.
@tylerallen73554 жыл бұрын
The valve SHOULD be cracked slightly. It allows part of the water to go back into the pump chamber to circulate the water. Some companies also use it to adjust line pressures.

You do realize that having a continuous disinfectant like bleach is also bad for the environment? Typically, an aerator is adequate. Unless you have a discharging system, as opposed to a leaching system, I wouldn't use bleach. I know some npdes systems have them, rare, most use uv. Some semi publics use them also but rare.
@amandabruesch82473 жыл бұрын
What is the difference between the discharging and the leaching? Is the sprinkler system the discharging?
@Jfresh553 жыл бұрын
@@amandabruesch8247 an on-lot system, AKA non-discharging, uses the soil as the means of secondary treatment. A discharging system discharges the effluent to a road ditch, culvert, storm sewer, lake, etc. Obviously, if you are discharging to the state, you need an NPDES permit through the EPA. A sprinkler system, AKA spray, is a hybrid type system. It utilizes aeration/UV and a lift pump to feed the sprinkler. It would be classified as a hybrid, but more-so an on-lot system. If most of the effluent stays on the property(which it should) and is absorbed into the soil, it is a non-discharging system. The type of system is classified by its final treatment component.

If your system is working correctly and has the proper amount of air from the air pump being injected you will not need the chlorine. I plumbed a 0-10 psi gauge in right below my air pump micro switch. They have to maintain 1 psi or the alarm will go off. Normally they run 2 psi or just above. If it starts getting up near 3 psi I change my diffuser as it is usually getting clogged and it goes back to around 2 1/4 lbs. And, if one of the diaphragms is cracked in one end of the air pump it will drop below 1 psi but still run and put out some air, but not enough. The gauge makes a great trouble shooting tool.
@pl7473 жыл бұрын
I also made me an emergency pump from a 1/2 hp 120 volt submersible pump that I had. Plumbed a 1 1/4 inch stand pipe so it is off the bottom of the tank the top is teed with two pieces about 2 ft long. It will hang from the manhole riser. One of them is capped and the other one is open. I have an electric line made from the male end of a heavy extension cord zip tied to the stand pipe and coming out where i can plug it into a heavy extension cord. I slip about 3 twenty foot joints of 1 1/4 inch pvc pipe on to the open side of the tee and plug it in. It will empty the tank in a few minutes. Comes in real handy when your pump or pump switch goes out and the tank is extra full and need to work on it.
