How close do you allow for a sprinkler head for the aerobic system to be near the house or shop or something like that?
@theallaroundguy2399

Do you mentally force the heads to run during an inspection or do you just run the water until they come on? Are you able to manually run all aerobic septic systems or did you find some with no manual override?

what was the pressure on the discharge of your pump?? i would alos take a large paint brush and clear all the dirt from the filter holder.

looks like if the final pump fails it could eventually fill up over the top of the wires ?? That wouldn't end well.

On the particular system the aerator has a built in alarm and is not connected to the panel that’s what the box is off the side. The air switch is to the right and no hose is running to it. The alarm is probably from a faulty float because of corrosion on the wires of the floats and the ants. That system needs a lot of work. The air line is all jacked up also. I would say the tank is not level and that is why the water was like that in the aerobic chamber lot of installers don’t have a clue.very good video

Do you replace the diffuser and purge the air line. Taking psi reading off the air pump and purging the diffuser helps the air pump last longer.
@DLainer993
@DLainer993 2 жыл бұрын
You can get porous pipe ( better diffuser) and bring the psi down from 7-9 psi- 2. The air pump will run quieter as well depending on the age

In TX homeowner has to have a contact with the maintenance company, required by law. Three - four times per year they will come and inspect the system. Most of the "inspectors" are idiots on minimum wage. All they do is open the pump tank and stick a rod in to measure the thickness of the sludge. I've never seen them open the 1st or 2nd tank. So what happens is exactly what is shown here. First tank full with poop to the top, second tank not operational due to dead air pump, resulting in smelly water in the 3rd tank. Fire ants will destroy all electrical components if you ignore them. They are attracted to electricity. I got better in maintaining my system than any of these so called professionals. This is basically a sewage treatment facility on your property. If it works correctly water being sprayed out should be odorless and clear. Good for watering grass and trees.

James so you no longer do contract with waste water company? I am asking because I am considering doing maintenance myself as well.

I'm also in Texas and my country informed me that I could take a class and get "certified" and cancel the inspections. We're in a new house with a new system so it comes with 2 years of inspections.

@@shaggy198889 We are far N.Texas... 10 years on our land (Red River Valley-ish) My understanding is, you are correct. Never did this, but when we settled, I was told by our county that you can take an 8 or 10 (or something) hour class ONCE to get certified as your own inspector. Once you do that, I assume, you only have to file with the county once a year that your system passed YOUR inspection. At the time (and at our previous household income level) "a bill" once a year for a septic company was not a big deal. 2022... and NOW it's a big deal... to us. That said, the class, again if I recall correctly, was a few hundred dollars. Even then, doing and paying for the class will pay for itself in 3-4 years. To restate, this is my 10 year-old recollection. My middle-aged mind could be off on the numbers... or more likely, the numbers have gone up (thank you government). For what it's worth... we've been through two aerator pumps, and this 2022 (HOT) summer just put us on our third. Our septic company (our third) just quoted us $400 to replace the pump. Like much of the population, we're tapped out financially, so I went online looking for help. Turns out... our 2 year-old pump is easy to service, and I'll be rebuilding it next week for a fraction of the cost. Good luck. God bless.

True and not true; In Texas, the TCEQ sets the requirements for these systems. As I understand it, according to the TCEQ, a new system is required to have a maintenance contract for the first two years. After that, the homeowner can do it themselves- no real training involved but highly discouraged as some are complex systems. HOWEVER- some counties go above and beyond that and say homeowners are not allowed to maintain their own unless they have the qualified training and certifications. Also, if a homeowner is maintaining their own system and someone complains and the county finds the homeowner at fault, fines may be levied and a requirement to obtain a maintenance contract can be required as well. I suggest you check with your county to see what their local requirements are as each one can be different.

@@frodrickfronkensteen9241is Yes. Doing it now..17 years I put up with these jokers. I know my system and have made mods to fix but they want 300 to clean bio Filter. I do myself, 30 min job. 17 years on 6th shart motor. We have leak issues during heavy rains. 3x a week after guys come the motor dies. Coincidence? Wiring a new box next week and going air pump. With these fence rules, where can these heads spray unless back and forth in a narrow arc. If water is ok then why can't it spray close to fence. Only spray at 1-4am? So everyone's going to septic is spraying basically the same time. Like that is healthy. I am on demand for 6 years. New panel? 700 to 1000 for them to do it. A new panel install should take 30 min. Depending on the panel they get at discount that is like 500 600 profit
