If you notice Ace got 2 other guitarist up on stage with him because he never really progressed past 1985 as a guitarist because of all the booze and drugs he actually regressed and forgot how to play a lot of shit... He's gotten a little better the last 8 - 10 years being sober he's gotten some of his dexterity back but he definitely couldn't hold a candle to some of these younger guys of this century... With the exception of Destroyer they always came off as a garage band with a circus atmosphere to carry them. Ace was the only true musician and star of the band. Kiss only started sounding better when Carr and Vincent got involved. Outside influences made them sound better.

I saw Kiss in 96 and I saw Ace solo 3 times, and I am happy with that. To me, Ace is the reason to see them. Without him theyre just some circus act. When I saw them , the band was tight , the sound was great. They were obviously veterans. I'd seen shitty hair bands opening for bigger acts and they generally could not cut it onstage. They were all about a look and gimmick. I expected the same from Kiss, being the original gimmicky hard rock band. But Kiss , and Ace especially, could play .Ace is a genuine bluesy rock guitar player of the old school. Those are the kinds of players I like

Hell, it would cost a lot more than 10 cents to see them now. The last time I saw KISS back around the early to mid 90's the tickets cost me about $26, but now they want anywhere from about $125 to well over $200 for a damn ticket, I like KISS but not that damn much to pay that kind of price. No wonder the days of arena rock has all but died out is because of this type of greed.

Not being able to hit the high notes is not an excuse because you can always sing notes that are lower and in the same key, with showmanship even. It's not a magic spell where if you don't sing all the notes just the way it is on the original recording, the summoned demon is going to crush you or drag you to hell. You can sing the notes lower. Every good singer does it.

I loved KISS as a kid and was a card carrying member of the Army. The only member of the band, that could have been successful as a solo act is Paul Stanley. His voice is KISS. He did what he needed to do. Tours are so expensive and so many union workers make their livings on stage and production. I think KISS should of called it quits after the Reunion tour. The first farewell tour was "ok". Reunion tour opening with Deuce and that curtain dropping was awesome. Farewell tour opening with Detroit Rock City and the entrance, not that awesome

There is a big difference between Musicians, and, Entertainers who sing while playing their musical instrument props. Thing about KISS is that the two Musicians (Ace & Peter) got the shaft; and, the two Entertainers (Paul & Gene) got the money. Ace & Peter were Musicians in the Music (dirty) Business; and, Paul & Gene are Actors playing the part of Musicians, and work in the Music Entertainment Business - that's why Ace "Don't use no tapes!"; and, KISS has no qualms about putting on A SHOW to Backing Tracks.
