Ace is a very talented guy. I love KISS. And all the original members. Ace’s guitar solo on GOT TO CHOOSE on ALIVE still brings tears to my eyes, it’s so damn good. Most people miss that. You have to listen to the whole solo. To the very end of the solo. Amazing!! Unfortunately Ace has no self control at critical times. He got overwhelmed by his unfun obligations to the band. That’s unacceptable. In life as an adult you have to take the good with the bad. That goes for you to Peter. Oh well shiet happens.

Ace quit after hearing what Bob Ezrin did on The Elder. That Album was pure shit. Peter Quit because he suffered a bad car accident and couldn't be present for the recording of Dynasty. He also had a bad alcohol and coke addiction. His personal relationship was suffering as was his relationship with the band. in all the years that Kiss has been a band, Gene and Paul have only ever worked on two songs together for writing credits. I wonder how much better they would have been if they actually worked on more songs together. Paul hasn't wrote many songs since the 70's. Bob Ezrin put together Destroyer, and that was the worst album they put out until The Elder. The Elder was complete crap and Ace made up his mind to leave right after hearing it.

Ace was paid $50-60k per concert for the reunion tour, and $50k for the Psycho Circus and Farewell tours. Over the span of five years he made almost $20 million. I don’t want to hear about how unfairly he was treated. Not when he made that much money, got to travel the world for free, and stay in luxury hotels in every city.

Howard was unprepared for the interview as he himself said at the beginning that he didn't know much about Ace. Bad start. Unacceptable under any circumstances. The least he could have done is to get some type of briefing about the man, the band, the current situation, and what the guest was told he'd be in the studio for - at least, that's how I would have done it, rather that waste everyone's time.

Work is work. If KISS had to open for Aerosmith, and Ace gets $50K per night + merchandise, damn right he should just play and cash his checks. And if anything, the downfall of KISS was due to Paul and Gene's many mistakes, so Ace should not have felt embarrassed about opening for a former opening act. And in all honesty, Ace's career in the 80s, while not as disastrous as Peter's, wasn't anything to brag about. At least he got called back to tour, while Peter was not. So, leave your ego at the door.
