I remember watching this when this was new. I heard he was going to be on and couldn’t wait to see it! As a kid, Ace was the coolest thing walking🎸

Ace is in his environment! At least when he’s buzzed. I spent an hour with him back in early 90’s in Virginia Beach when he was completely sober. Much different person. He played at the Peppermint Beach club ( I was there). I decided to take a walk on the oceanfronts board walk about an hour after the show. Ace and I passed each other and of course I recognized him and we walked and talked for at least an hour. I told him he was music hero and he was flattered but reminded me he’s just a regular person. We talked about a lot of things. How many people out there have spent a hour alone with their hero for an hour? Not many. At 58 years old, I’ll never forget that hour👍❤️

Thanks for posting this! Never heard of it before, what an amazing show! Two of my faves - Ace and Joey Ramone. Ace upstaged EVERYONE. “Shit for brains!” 😂

This is great nostalgia. it is even out of one of my local stations from that period so even the busineses on the commercials are familiar. I almost forgot just how chaotic this show actually was. :))

Damn that was actually really cool to watch. TV was awesome back then. The best part was being able to skip through those f#*$!@# commercials.

Some dude shouting about Joey Ramone not being able to speak. Joey is one of the pioneers of a whole music movement. Who’s the sears catalogue dude? Who cares? It’s the different people that make the difference in the world.

Somebody should remaster his shows. I grew up in southern LA and one of the cable channels we got was WWOR out of NJ. I got to watch this show, Howard Stern's show on the weekend, and I was a Mets fan rather than a Braves or Cubs fans (no Louisiana MLB). People called this show trash TV, but MDJ was making a very good point here - that only certain types of music or groups were being played on MTV and they were typically white men. Blondie is credited with getting rap exposure on MTV - a "punk" group fronted by a white woman. This wasn't talked about a lot at the time, but it is now. I feel like MDJ was sometimes ahead of his time in that he was willing to go after larger companies like MTV or A&R.

Even though we might not notice it from watching this episode, I don’t think Ace Frehley was necessarily on the best of terms with Jon Zazula when this episode was made. This episode came out less than a year after Frehley’s Comet’s second full length album Second Sighting was released. Jonny Z mentioned in his book Heavy Tales that Ace showed a poor work ethic during the production of Second Sighting. He was a frequent no show during rehearsal sessions. Ace only made one more album for Megaforce Records before being dropped by the label. The 1989 release Trouble Walking was billed as an Ace Frehley solo album after the Frehley’s Comet moniker was discontinued.

Kiss didn’t go platinum until their 4th album (alive 1) they had to wait a whole 2-2.5 years. They pumped out the first 3 albums out fast because the record label was desperate for money (Casablanca).

Might have been interesting if it wouldnt have been scripted. This is nothing more than an early version of "Maury", or "Jerry Springer".

Don’t know about Maury, but Jerry didn’t actually participate more than asking questions. Morton behaves like a guest on Jerry Springer!

The dirfference between the 2 kinds of rock n rollers is morals. Obviously the rock n rollers who try to put out a positive image aren't as big as the inmoral rock n rollers. So what does that tell you? Theres a lot more inmorals than moral people.

Joey and Ace both NYC boys. Different bands, same spirit. They look like they could both grab some guitars and start jamming. I remember watching this on TV when it originally aired. I'm old lol.
