Morton Downey Jr was the kindest person. I was blessed 🙌 🙏🏻 to call him my friend and he was like the Dad I never had. He was protective of me and cared about my well being. He made me realize my life was worth living. He helped the homeless and was very humble. I still am friends with his sweet beautiful wife Lori Krebs Downey Jr. She is a sweetheart. I miss him everyday of my life. I know that I am going to see him again in Heaven and get a hug from him again. Morton Downey Jr was one of a kind and so kind. I miss you Soooooooo much. I know Morton Downey Jr is in Heaven and I will see him again when God calls me home

It was phenomenal groundbreaking (if exploitative) television! Morton was a firebolt beloved by everyone- Black, Latin, White! Hell we welcomed him at Harlem! This was at the highpoint of the 1980s Golden Age! The Studio's burned him out, unfortunately, exacerbating his alcohol addiction. GenX kids from the NY/NJ/Conn area miss him dearly!!

Part of some hard driving teens growing up in a small town in central CA in the 80s we'd be drunk and wasted but always tune in to the MDJr show when it was broadcast at like midnight or 1am Saturdays, I think it was. It predated all the shock/confrontational turns that most talk shows took much later. We'd be laughing half the time agreeing half the time rolling at all the sermonizing high as kites ourselves, always loving the unabashed arguments and stupidity on display all around.
