Thanks for the review of RARO from Creem. Being an Aussie I was fortunate enough to discover KISS via our old black n white TV on a Saturday morning cartoon & music presentation type show sometime in at a guess '76. I'm approximately a similar age & my love of rock music during my childhood & beyond was via AM radio, TV, friends & relations like cousins. No access to being able to buy magazines unfortunately. No pocket money for household chores. I asked for it but as my Dad was working before school hours & myself as the elder of 2 kids, that idea was taboo. Great memories of taping albums off friends/cousins. Record companies sold heaps especially once you got olded & bought those records yourself & friends bought copies etc due to exposure to different music after having taping others albums. That's how it worked. I bought heaps of records & tapes, new & 2nd hand. Same with CD's. Great episode.

Great show and KISS review. Such fun going back in time and enjoying the good ole days. Thanks for sharing your weekend with time spent with Eric’s sister and Eric Singer. I used to work at Kmart in the early 80s through the early 2000s and remember through the 90s the record distribution company Handleman. Every Tuesday was the new release date and was always exciting to see the new Kiss releases. I loved going through all the stuff in the boxes and the badges and pins to promote music and movies. I especially remember when Kiss symphony was released if you bought the cd you got a promo poster. This was really cool because it was one of the last photo shoots Peter did with the band. I was on pins and needles all week because when the promotion was over I was allowed to take what was left over. I took the whole box!!!!! They sold a few cds but nobody asked for the posters . I was in heaven!!! Could you guy’s do an episode on trying to find Kiss promotional stuff as a kid . I remember asking for stuff in record stores and getting really lucky sometimes. Great episode can’t wait for the next one.

2 minutes in and we’re talking about beavers 😂 “Timex Watch in a digital world”- nice 😂 I love the Creem review. Absolutely hysterical way to describe R&RO- I was born in the wrong decade for sure. My dad is 60 and he was talking to me the other day about exchanging cassettes/LPs to copy over. He showed me how to do that at a very early age. Great show guys!

Good Creem article. Billy Altman is a smart guy. His review is seemingly and annoyingly absurd (Who is Uncle Floyd?). Then he mentions shortly KISS to keep the reader curious. At the end you're glad that he gives you the information as a highlight. Information combined with emotion. It was hard work to get it. That's why you won't forget it. Clever.

Wow, The Del Fuegos. For years I didn't hear of them. And the fact that Tommy bought the album because of Juliana Hatfield's Sister (amazing song). That made me think of The Replacements. Paul Westerberg dated Juliana a few years back (they released an album together) and The Del Fuegos used to play with The Replacements. And Black Diamond was covered by The Replacements in 1984 (when Kiss couldn't get arrested among alternative rock fans - after 1992 it was a different story). Nice!

That Juliana Hatfield Three album is incredible. Come to mention it, she does reference the Del Fuegos in one of the songs.

To start, that FranKENstein episode was one of BEST interviews and Three sides episodes you all HAVE EVER done. Rock and Roll Over is my all-time favorite album. Led Zep 2 is my all-time Led Zeppelin album. I think each album by their respective bands is that band's best album, IMO. I never had friends to exchange records with, because I was just about the only KISS fan in my school. LOL You all discussed Sam Goody's. I LOVED that store, before it changed to Music Land. That Creem mag interview was....interesting. Glad they liked the album.

Hey guys! Just wanted to send a Kiss related comment about the British bands you were discussing that never really made it here. The first time I heard of any of those bands like UFO, Slade, Status Quo, I must've been about 12. I remember they were all listed on the inside sleeve of ironically enough - Best of Solo Albums. If you have a copy, take a look, it's red and white. I think it was mainly a listing of the import label's catalog at the time. Anywho, enjoyed the episode and just wanted to mention that !✌🏻

Uncle Floyd- Floyd Vivino, public access UHF TV host did a variety show for decades. They had The Ramones, David Johansen, and a ton of bands on there. Floyd’s brother Jimmy Vivino started out on the Uncle Floyd Show but wound up in Conan O’Brien’s band (just like Anton Fig wound up on David Letterman), and yes, Anton and Jimmy have done a lot of gigs together. I’m pretty sure Lester Bangs was still the editor and approved this review

That review was dead on imho. RARO is the bands best overall album that was sandwiched in between 2 albums that have some weaker tracks on them but hyped up to be their best albums. RARO is definitely Kiss at their best..great Episode

It’s funny…every time yal go to discussing all the gripes about your podcast (which I have my own but no one needs to hear them) I start to cringe and say “why do you give those people unneeded attention”?!! We should look at your podcast as a chick with a hot body and a butter face…the lay is damn good, so just turn her over so you don’t have to look at her face! Keep the good work!

Great show. I’m on Long Island so I knew the Uncle Floyd show. Man, he ragged on that poor guy. I don’t even remember that review, but at that time I had a subscription to Circus and bought the other ones (Cream, Hit Parader, Rock scene etc.) if they contained KISS or Alice Cooper. I couldn’t swap any KISS or Alice records with any of my friends because I was the only one in our circle who liked them. 🤷‍♂️. I also used blank cassettes to record off the TV and to play in my “Boombox”, which was my constant companion until I started to drive. I also recorded myself playing guitar. I recently found some old tapes of me playing random things from around ‘76-‘77 and there was a riff I was doing that is in a Metallica song. I should have continued on that path.
Secret Facts Most Fans Don’t Know About KISS? Yeah, Pretty Much No.
