Props to you for finding a Kevin Gausman Braves highlight

I think both of these two have a lot of potential and I’m excited to see what each org does this season to adjust things

Can't wait to watch this video next year but with Brody Brecht

I think as far as the starter/reliever question goes, Im with you: Misiorowski is the one more likely to be an impact starter. There's more to project on with him, as far as the frame goes. Guys with such long levers can take a bit to coordinate them, and he might throw even harder as he fills out. And unlike Waldrep, he has a genuine outlier fastball. There's also probably something to say about a 6-7 dude with such a low release (Eury Pérez, hello). Waldrep is more straight-forward, and I think his fastball will be hittable. He has some Max Meyer to him. That being said, both of them have really wince-inducing mechanics to me. Misiorowski's arm is super late, and Waldrep's delivery is violent as hell. There just aren't many starters in the big leagues with their mechanical look. Waldrep is also just a stick of dynamite out there, super high effort. He looks like a closer to me. Also, didn't Waldrep have a pretty nice curveball in Florida that the Braves scrapped? Streamlining his mix might be a signal as to what they think he might be.

Yeah, all good points. I do think all release heights aren’t created equal like you’re saying with Miz/Eury. 5 foot release from a 5 foot 10 extender is different from a 6-foot-7 side armer I believe Waldrep had something else, and I think the 4S shape was a bit different, he was carrying it a bit more. Violent mechanics indeed. Hence the SP or RP question. More than likely both are RP long term I think, Miz just has like a 10-15% chance of finding it and that would be such a fun outcome

The Braves are prone to temporarily scrapping the CB when a prospect enters the system with a CB/SL combo, focusing to work on improving the slider, before reintroducing the CB. Look at AJSS's 2022 to 2023 for an example of that.

@@CrosbyBaseball Good catch. Would make some sense, I guess. I really liked that curveball when he was in college, and was really surprised Atlanta put in on the shelf.

God I love The Mis sooo much. Electric like Sale. Don't care what metrics say, he's HIM

Mis seems like a prime candidate for a sinker with his arm slot and movement characteristics on his 4 seam. Think it would give him a third good look for a pitch in the zone
@LanceBroz9 ай бұрын
I could see a sinker long term. I’m just not totally convinced he’s going to be able to strike it given the current state of the 4S command haha
@mike-04518 ай бұрын
@@LanceBrozCould you go into more detail on the “4S command era”? Is there a trend among teams to chase guys with good four seam characteristics with plus command?
@ozzuzzomg8 ай бұрын
on misiorowski more velo seems to help on the fastball kinda like a ben joyce esk fastball and for waldrep his 4 seam needs more spin efficiency for carry
@LanceBroz8 ай бұрын
Needs more spin efficiency, sure. But not easy to just tell a guy “hey, spin your fastball more efficiently” He’s naturally very supinated at release. Going to be hard/impossible to get him to plus carry without a fundamental throw change.
@ozzuzzomg8 ай бұрын
@@LanceBroz yea thats quite true most likley why he doesn't have a pete fairbanks or bautista typa fastball

BABE, you've gotta wake up - a new Lance pitch breakdown just dropped
@prestonschumacher13149 ай бұрын
The only real way to judge a pitcher’s mechanics objectively is with mocap data. Unfortunately mlb player mocap data is not public information.
@LanceBroz9 ай бұрын
Yep! Totally agree. Hawkeye, if ever public, can probably get us somewhat close. Otherwise, it’ll be a black box for a while

The split finger pitch is a devastating pitch. How are the it requires a certain arm action and could lead to injuries. Ask John smoltz
@nickfabrizio32889 ай бұрын
I would like him to go visit driveline and help him with his splitter to be more like Kevin Gausmans where he can throw it for strikes and make it drop off the table out of the strike zone at 85 mph. I also thinking standing up straight for pitching can help a lot
@LanceBroz9 ай бұрын
Nah, nah. Changing Waldrep’s splitter isn’t on the table. It’s a great pitch already. No need to change it. If he’s gonna go to DL, it’s for a mechanics revamp, get him to move more efficiently. Not to adjust his best pitch.
