EXACTLY! Garp indirectly did what he could to "save" Ace. This is a 2 year older Garp than the one Luffy faced at Marineford. So the Galaxy Impact would've been a bit more fresh than the one at Hachinosu, and he didn't even pull it then, not even the Haki he knew he could've blasted out. He let all them boys walk free. THAT was his love for Ace... that and honoring his request not to fight but sat next to him the whole time for some moral support. People don't know love if it slapped them in the face, I swear!

And visually in the anime if you compare the scenes it isn't close either

@@nobody42071 If we're ignoring the anime visuals and going purely by Manga, the fight between WB & Akainu in the Manga was mostly in Sakazuki's favor, with him blowing off part of WB's skull & taking no lasting damage. The anime changed it to make WB ragdoll him, it didn't go like that originally
