If he chose to leave ace out of the story/ flashbacks the fans would have just grilled him for poor story writing or missed opportunities. This literally had to happen for the sake of the plot.

I mean.... not only was he there when it happened, Ace literally _died in his arms._ After letting THAT kind of trauma stew for two years, I can see how it would harden him into the type who rips the band-aid straight off in one swipe..... 😟

my issues with post time skip compared to pre. 1. many more minor plot holes/armor, and we are expected to just let them slide(e.g: mariejois weak guard). 2. more jokes don't deliver(eg: sanji's nosebleed). 3. pacing(especially whole cake island).
