Very helpful video. I was looking for a good video to show how to cut the tree trunk before putting it into the holder. This showed it perfectly.

Drill a couple holes up from the bottom to help keep tree sucking water/fresh. Place it away from heating sources or blowing air (cold windows are great spots if they are not southern exposure where more sun radiates heat onto the tree, drying it out). Tradition says: After you're done, prop it up in your landscaping and scatter bird seed around it. After that, throw it on a bonfire :) Got my 7', $10 Scotch Pine today ( Monday before xmas). Surprised to find this deal, but now I know where I am getting my tree every year.

Cold water or warm water?
@AceHardware4 жыл бұрын
Hi Penny, Cold water works! Just make sure you check it twice a day. You will always want water in there to avoid the tree drying out.

Mostly had real trees during my childhood but we never watered it and it was FINE! I would be terrified of having anything electric near a bowl of water! Besides, if you put up the tree when you are supposed to (in my family the Friday before Christmas day until Jan 6th) and not one day after Halloween, there will be no problem with the tree getting too dry. 🤷🏻♀️

I cut a noble fir and put it in water within a few hours. It hasn't soaked up that much water. It was raining a lot before I cut it. Is this normal? I didn't cut it again at home. I'm using Miracle grow tree additive.
@AceHardware3 жыл бұрын
Hi Noah, Did you give the tree a clean cut before going in the holder? Sometimes if the cut is not clean and straight on the stump, one side is taking in more water then the other. Just keep track of it, it should start pulling water soon.

Hello There- When cared for correctly, a Fraser Fir can last about five weeks. Hope this helps!

Check the water 4 times a day minimum. My family got a 7 foot tree (probably 5 inches in diameter and cut down by ourselves) and we have forgotten to check the water at times (8+ hours without checking). There have been times where we completely fill the stand and come back 5 hours later and the water is gone. I swear this tree has been uptaking a couple gallons a day easily, probably 3 or more. I have the first stand they show at 1:45

++ for keeping on top of the water. These drink ALOT the first week or so. Promise you'll be surprised. It's worth looking at how big the reservoir of the tree stand is. Bigger is definitely better.
@galehess66764 жыл бұрын
@@nick40320 turn down the heat, put the tree near a cold window, or cold area of house if possible. did not know need to water multiple x daily, the last one a few years back was not so thirsty

Disagree, unless you've got a good reason. We've only had live trees for generations in my family, and penetrating the stump allows more water to be absorbed.
@galehess66764 жыл бұрын
@@ChuckD59 lol yup I think some people drill holes in the bottom, for that reason.
