I truly appreciate the level of detail in your review! All of my questions were answered. I'm moving over to the Education Plan Guide :-) I'm excited for my kids to start this Academy, even at the price of a new car payment. I've had enough of public schools and hope to see positive results such as those mentioned. The only social skills gained in our local school are self-defense and how to be a gangsta! That doesn't count as a credit, kiddos. Thanks again for the wonderful review!

As far as socialization in school, we always homeschooled our kids, but this past year our oldest went to a charter school for 9th. She did not really gain much in the way of social skills because students can not socialize during class, only 5 min between classes, only a 30 min lunch break and she ended up keeping to herself a lot. Where the real-world social skills will be gained is when she takes a summer job and also during required volunteer hours. You do not need to be a in a school setting to gain social skills. She is coming back home after this school year and I'm highly pondering Acellus. My friend suggested it and so far it looks fantastic. So I'm looking at all of the reviews, which brought me to this one. :))
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
Hey Minnie, you make some great points! You are right, kids do have very little time to socialize when you really think about it. I remember during my High school days and it was similar where you just want to get on with the day and move on. If I had the chance to attend Acellus when I went to school and get a chance to start college earlier, it would be such a huge benefit. That's what I tell my kids, that they can do something similar. It also depends on the kids, some love going to schools with other kids and some prefer Acellus. I have never forced my kids to do homeschooling and I have given them several chances if they wish to go back to regular public school but they choose not to and I don't blame them. I'm glad I could help with the review :)

My two kids are taking classes online from Acellus academy for two years. This year is 3rd year and after pandemic my kids doesn't want to go back to school. They already have a lot of side activities for socializing like horse riding 4days in a week and other community activities. So far I totally agree all your points. Great video. This year I upgraded from basic to Premium so they can take 8 classes instead 6 with scholarship. I think this is the new way of education and we are very happy with the result. Also one other benefits of Acellus is, my kids loves coding they even take upper class coding courses. In the regular school this almost impossible.

I'm glad you agree with the points I made. Same for us, we only joined Acellus because of the Pandemic and they did not want to go back either. My biggest one is in his last year and will be going to college soon. Don't be a stranger!

This is our third year and I agree with everything you said. My child and I enjoy the classes and they seem to be covering everything we need to know. Although the topics in social study seem repetitive at times, it seems to be necessary for us to retain the information. We do four hours a day, four days a week, and are completing Middle School in half the time. On the negative side, on at least four occasions, we have sent requests for information with no responses. During COVID, we enrolled in remote classes offered by the local school system but dropped out because most of the class time was spent chastising students for not doing the work or not paying attention.

How do you think the courses compare academically to public school? My high schooler is finishing his six classes in about an hour each day and I don’t think that is enough academic rigor. Do you know how Acellus students score on standardized tests compared to public school peers? We just started the program and the kids love it. But I’ve been supplementing lots of additional literature and writing assignments for them and I’m thinking about math too.
@UltratecJS3 ай бұрын
The classes are actually very similar to public school and all courses are NCAA approved. They are able to finish faster because they skip a lot of the nonsense from traditional schools and they do the work right away which leads to more efficiency. It's not needed to supplement but it won't hurt them either. You can also increase the steps of each class if needed.
@christineno288720 күн бұрын
thanks for the video. Please advise. What if kids have been homeschooling with no prior credits from any institution, Will they have enough credits to be admitted to college? how will their credits be computed in Acellus? i.e for grades 5 and grade 7

Yes they can still switch to Acellus. Once they have their Acellus HS diploma, it's just like having a traditional diploma from any other High School. I believe when they enroll in Acellus they will take some placement tests to see what level of classes they will need.

Yes that's possible. You probably want to choose power home school since you will just be supplementing. That's cheaper and has the same material. I also believe they enabled tutor mode again where you can do specific lessons that you want. Before the month ends just email for a refund and they will honor it no problems. This way you are not guessing into what you're getting into.

How many semesters are in a school year of acellus?? I just finished ela and it gave me 337 more steps after the final exam so i am confused
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
Those 337 more steps are probably for the next grade since you completed it. There is no set semesters, you go as fast or as slow as you want. By default it takes about 5 months to complete a full grade but you can always modify the steps per week you do to go faster. Check out the video I made called most efficient scheduling with Acellus, I talk precisely about this topic.

Hey so idk if you will answer but I would appreciate it as I need advice. I am about to start my junior year but I do NOT wish to return to public schools and I thought acellus sounded good. I have however read lots of bad reviews about it because of something called tutor mode. I was just wondering if this was actually a good school and if I should enroll and also if the 2nd best option is worth it. In my opinion I’m not interested in the 500 dollar one but the second one might be good. I just need some help as this will be my first year doing online school and I need a good one. (I would like to graduate early) I also have heard the school is easy and not engaging is this true? Also would I be able to have a job and do acellus at the same time
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
Yeah do not listen to those bad reviews, they are from people that were using Power Home school, which uses the same curriculum as Acellus, however, with the tutor mode kids were allowed to skip lessons and retake exams as many times as they wanted. They did away with that but that does not affect Acellus Academy one bit since that was never enabled in Acellus. It's definitely not easy in a way that's cheating, the work can be easy if you put in the work such as taking notes, prepping for tests, etc. It can be extremely hard if you don't put in the work, it's definitely a good school and can help you finish faster. You will also have an accredited degree that can be used to apply to any college.

Acellus Academy is online school so that’s why it’s accredited Acellus Powerhouse is homeschool so it doesn’t have accreditation. I called them yesterday (03/14) to understand the difference

Great info! I usually recommend Power to those parents who want to save some money and they can always transfer in on the 12th grade.

@@UltratecJS Will the Powerhouse homeschool curriculum be transferrable for elementary or middle school public schools with no problems?
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
@@Tsbandmm22534 I am not sure about Power Home school, I think there were some issues with that recently and they wanted those students transferred into Acellus.
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
@@Tsbandmm22534 Yeah I think that's where the issues are happening with Power where some parents were using tutoring mode allowing kids to skip many lessons and retake tests as many times as they wanted. I haven't fully followed the development but Acellus was not affected at all by this. There might be more information in the Facebook group for Acellus and Power Home school.

Here is the information on accreditation www.acellusacademy.com/accreditation. It looks like the accreditation comes from WASC which the Department of Education approves and they have NCAA-approved courses.

i home school my niece. theres no real verification for homeschooling wether you do it yourself or choose an online school to do it for you. as long as you keep your childs records and notify the school of your intention of home schooling and letting the state board of education know.

Great video, very informative. Do you think the response time may differ based on the selected tuition plan?
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
Thank you. At one point they didn't have all these different tiers of plans and the response times were slow for everyone. Now with the higher tier plans they promise faster response times. I haven't had the need to try it but it's worth checking out if you can afford those plans. I'm sure you can downgrade if it's the same.

Do you have any advice on transferring from public school to Acellus mid year? We want to make sure we're doing the right thing by our kid. Hoping this will be temporary but we definitely want to finish their current year and not repeat what has already been covered/learned.
@UltratecJS Жыл бұрын
You should be able to transfer in credits already taken. I would speak directly to Acellus to make sure. Good luck!

The socialization aspect of school is overrated. There are numerous studies over the past 20 years that show that homeschooled children develop above average socialization skills and do better academically than their public school peers.

How do I know when my kid is done with a school year because it gave my kid a 2nd course after he finished his first one? I am very confused
@UltratecJS9 ай бұрын
We write down the full grade classes on a whiteboard and once a class is finished we don't continue doing the new class that gets populated automatically. Instead we double down on the classes remaining for the original grade. Once all classes are done for that grade you are tackling you can then move on to the next grade classes. I actually made a dedicated video that talks about this exact topic. It's called Acellus Academy Most efficient scheduling, if you want to look up my video library.
