Fixed it but my touchpad is not working now. It is sinking down and the click are not working. Please help me i have damaged it or fitted it wrong I have reopened it 2-3 time but nothing happened

Just done it. Hardest part is cutting them black tabs off but once keyboard is fitted you won't get the soft "chicklett" feel the keys don't feel as good because the black tabs haven't been melted back in place but still it's a working keyboard just louder keys

The original keyboard and the one that you replaced with have different Fn keys. Is laptop recognizing the old Fn key layout or the new?

@@kalde85 i think its actually reasonable that it doesnt recognize the layout of the new one. These keyboards dont have sth in them that the laptop can recognize. The laptop will just use the layout that it already had.

Thanks for posting this. Very useful. If you're taking the keyboard out to clean it from a coffee spill and put it back, does it matter that all the little black plastic locks have been cut off?

Oh, I found most of them I can just pop out, I don't need to cut them off.

OK just the ones round the edges popped out easily, some I had to cut off.

If you can remove the keyboard without cutting the black plastic that would be nice but most model of aspire 3 a315 need to cut it out so you can take out the keyboard. You don't have to put back the black plastic and worry about it because the screws from other parts will support the keyboard once you are done replacing the keyboard.

If the power button is working you can modify the connection inside. Bypass the other pins from flex cable of keyboard and leave only the pins for power button that will do the trick. You can power up the laptop from the keyboard's power button and then if you need to type just use external keyboard

you can with kapton tape but even then it won't be even. sinking in the middle.

I have the laptop mentioned in the video, it gives me a serious problem, it turns on only if I press the power button + a random key on the keyboard, it works if I keep it pressed, but if I remove my finger on the 2nd button, it turns off, I can't solve it , do you have any idea what could happen? This acer aspire a315-41 has keyboard problems, doesn't it? I already got my keyboard replaced once and again today it won't turn on but the power button works! Is it possible that some other short circuit keys could prevent laptop from turning on, Anyways i am going to let only 2 pins and block other use external keyboard

Try to remove the keyboard and turn on your laptop by having a jumper connection to the two pins from the power and then see it for yourself if it turns on. If not then that's a different problem

Corroded connection is one of the possible cause. Or if you spilled some liquid on it that could be the reason

IMPORTANT: Dont forget to stick the small black plastic parts with some kind of super glue or by heating them up. OTHERWISE the keyboard wont be as high and be like low profile. Thats what happened with my laptop.

sometimes i use a soldering iron to melt the plastic back in place. Since some laptops do not have the tiny post to support the keyboard. Then I also reinforced the metal plate with some hot glue to keep it in place. Otherwise it will be very hard to type in and can get annoying to use.

Rupesh, I managed to find a suitable palmtop, which is a lot easier to change without damaging anything than the keyboard itself, for £60 in UK via ebay. In UK, to get that done in a shop would be around £150 I think. But I learnt a lot and taught my children a lot about laptops in the process of changing it, as well as saving around £100 labour. Next I will swap the hard disk for a solid state drive to make it faster. (It was a laptop a colleague was going to throw away because the keyboard was badly damaged from a coffee spill.)

Crazy. Horrible hardware design. A friend gave me his Aspire to take a look at the defective keyboard, so I came here. I’ve got over 20 years of experience in IT, but I’m used to server hardware and business notebooks like ThinkPad T-Series, where everyone can change the keyboard in about 2 minutes.
