Thanks Brue Computing, my daughter's A315-54K had this exact hinge failure on both sides. This was easy to follow and I only had to buy the new lid and a prying tool and fixed in no time - thankfully she kept the 6 black hinge screws that had fallen out when it broke!

Thanks for the video. The panel of the newer Acers are glued instead of screwed, so in my case switching the complete lid from an identical donor laptop was a much better option. The way you showed in the video was very clear to follow.

I have this same laptop. My laptop is also not getting wifi. Is it due to one of the broken wires which come out the board to through the hinge. Can wifi prblm be fixed. The hinge is also broken.

Yes, you can usually source replacement WiFi antennas which can be fitted into the display bezel.

Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is to do the same replacement on an Acer Predator Helios 18" - 2023 model (PH18-71) - I scratched the lid and want to replace it? Just a bit worried that someone said new acer panels are glued in.

No, there are dozens of different A315 models. The assembly may be similar, but the actual parts required will likely be different if it isn't a A315-54K.

Great Work! This will help me a lot, my Acer notebook just experienced this exact hinge failure problem on the right hand side, and as I didn't solve it on time, the left hand side broke today. Could you please update your amazon links? These are down Also, I lost some of the screws from one of the hinges (12:41) , could you post a link to a set of screws on amazon that would work please? Probably a stupid question, but can I still operate the laptop without putting the lid back on? I would assume so. Obviously it would be hooked up to a monitor, tv or whatever.

Hello and thanks for this comprehensive video guide. I'm working on an Acer A515 51G, but I don't see that it's going to be drastically different. If I have any major points of difference that cause problems I'll let you know, but it looks like your guide is very straightforward so it should be pretty simple.

I struggled with this, on the back cover, middle bottom, there is a recess where to put the small magnet before mounting the LCD panel (it is easier this way). You can test this by placing the magnet near the "ACER" logo on the top cover. When closed the magnet will be close to this and activate the switch.
