Hi, I need your help. I have the same laptop and i think its CMOS BIOS battery has failed. As seen in the video 6:30 the battery is soldered to the board and it says "ML 1220 Rechargeable Battery" which i couldn't find online. Can i replace it with a CR1220 non rechargeable battery? will there be any problems?

Check the service manual, but I'm pretty sure its replaceable.

And this is why, nowadays anyway, you just buy an entire replacement assembly, with keyboard, touchpad, and aluminum housing. None of this rivet nonsense.

You can't upgrade the graphics on it, so I'd think you're better off replacing it with a higher spec laptop.

It has memory soldered to the mainboard, and then a SO-DIMM slot for expansion.

Probably a stupid question, but can I still operate the laptop without putting the lid back on? I would assume so. Obviously it would be hooked up to a monitor, tv or whatever.

The video is about 3 years old - SSD prices were higher then. The upgrade was for better performance, the capacity wasn't needed.

It may work, but the specification for the laptop is DDR4-3200 so I wouldn't install 2133/2400/2666 RAM.

@@BrueComputing 3200 is considered OC, so i guess the mobo or dell auto-OCs it. It would be an interesting experiment to see if it would boot or work with standard 2400 Mhz ram. I got some for free from a friend, and i'm sure i'm not the only one. Could be a good video to experiment on this.

@@BrueComputing I got one hard-drive cable from dell inspiron 5593(my little brother's laptop) but my 3593 is non-ODD model, it's has ODD connector on the motherboard, but I don't have ODD connector to ODD cable, and it seems the ODD connector is incompatible with first HDD hard drive cable, buying an ODD cable is unrealistic, because you also need to buy an ODD to HDD caddy.

Excellent video. I struggled to remove the connector so I removed the battery screws first and lifted it so I could access the connector easier to remove it (had to get my wife to actually pull out the connector cos of my fat fingers!).
