Actually I have the 2500U version and it doesn't fry its components at all. The temps are basically the same as the one tested here. Its just the intel models that run at 95C.

Fantastic review--I just purchased this same laptop (Ryzen 5 4600H/GTX1650) for $599 in California as I didn't want to build another desktop PC. It's very refreshing to see a good reviewer who is partial to gaming laptops as they are usually looked down on because they aren't regarded as good value. I just bought the nitro 5 amd ryzen 5 4600h with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, $665 out the door. It only comes with 256 GB ssd but I installed a 1 TB m.2 NVME and 1TB 2.5 ssd + another 8GB of ram to total 16GB of RAM. What can I say? for under $850 I built my little beast good enough to get me to my basic gaming needs and my VDJ video editing hobby. I hope that when the acer 5 ryzen 7 comes out you will be able to upgrade for more storage. I had the previous nitro 5 AMD ryzen 7 it was a huge disappointment.

I'm glad you did a 'Latency Mon' test. Before you mentioned it I wanted the AMD unit to be tested as those CPU's tend to pass the test a lot more than Intel systems which never seem to handle real time audio well at all. A possible purchase? Maybe.

Its a Ryzen 5 3600 paired with an R9 390(old but can still handle itself). the reason temperature remains under 80C is " *LIMITATION OF POWER CONSUMPTION* ". apparently, ACER provided a 135W adapter. so, It doesn't allow CPU/GPU to eat up more watt(as more watts produce more heats). So Unless someone needs high Cpu+gpu power at the same time, this laptop will provide good experience IMO.

Your preliminary review was a major factor in me buying this system. I have a dedicated gaming and VR desktop that targets 1440p144 and bought this as a supplement because I'm about to be traveling a lot. Every single premium AAA game on this system has run just fine, provided I drop the settings. I've done my own tests and they align with what you've found. It runs cool and quiet, and when really pushing it with stress tests it manages to pull good power while holding reasonable temps. Coming from that mid-to-high end desktop I have, I've turned that off for the time being to use this laptop to conserve power because the summers are hot and I got AC going. I'm completely satisfied with it. It's playing all the games I want. Even if I have premium hardware I'm not a graphics hound, and as long as the games can run I'm happy. This laptop will deliver that. Doom Eternal on mostly high, solid 60 with vsync. Ace Combat 7 on high with 150% supersampling, no vsync, pushing over 70 frames. Mankind Divided on medium, solid 60 without vsync. Fallout 4 on mostly high settings, solid 60 with engine frame limits. EDF 5, a game with hundreds of enemies on screen at once, ran at a perfect 60 on the highest settings once I figured out how to make it use the dGPU and not the integrated. That game can make any computer chug, because it's very CPU bound. And I'm over here playing mostly playing Doom (1993) and Terraria and Deus Ex (2000) and Morrowind. The only issues I've had was that I enabled RTX voice on it and it crashed some of the more demanding games because the GPU just isn't up to task for handling that workload, and the screen has that annoying bright spot on the top for my unit as well. The sound isn't great but I got my own headphones for that and the laptop microphone is actually kinda good. The keyboard isn't amazing, It's definitely not as good as my dedicated mechanical keyboard on my desktop, but I've still been gaming comfortably for hours on it. It has some droppage on the shift key which is annoying, however. You think you're pressing shift but you aren't all the time. If you're hitting the edge it can sometimes not register on my unit. I've been there, I've played the best games on the best graphics settings. I've played and beaten your Half-Life Alyx and Crysis games. But I don't want that here, I just want the games to work. And they do. For $730 after you factor in US tax and the RAM upgrade, which I haven't actually gotten yet because Amazon lost my package in the mail. It's an amazing laptop for what I'm personally doing. All the AAA games I wanna play run just fine, and all the old and indie games I wanna play run great. ikr i was really surprised when i was like meh its 8gb most people step up to 3200mhz anyways on a duel channel set......oh its a single 3200mhz stick......so you only need to buy 1 stick....for 16gb......adds to the feasible aspect of this "gaming laptop" put 16gb 3200mhz which will really help ryzen shine....plug it into a 165hz 1080p adaptive sync panel with a typec to displayport cable......get better multiscreen gaming/ netflix youtube etc.....on included panel.......capability than intel....for 599$ on sale in US+ the extra 8gb.....what a "win" for the consumer

not really due to the fact that the gpu only is 50w......., for ex the 1660ti max q is 60w and 2060 max-q rated at 65 max. I find the 1650 and ryzen to be rather ideal and i wish we had a few more options across more manufacturers/vendors. As well as Low profile options since he larger chipped 1660 and 2060 do cause more heat to the cooling system......as you can see from this one......its 1 sided more or less to cool the CPU...due to the fact that the GPU wasnt a 1660/2060 IMO....i highly doubt well see the same results to others "configuring" diff gpu.....i have a different laptop...but its more of a 50/50 cooling system....the 1660....definitely could sacrifice onto my 9th gen heatsink.....but my design is a shared plate and shared pipes.....theyve come a long way.......the asus i tested with the ryzen 3750h and 80w 1660ti......would out draw the 180w powerbrick asus provided...90c+ high idles too....kek....it was a Meh attempt and returned/exchanged product.

Muhammad Hanif Kurnaen yes, acer have other nitro 5 models with new i7 10th, and it can play game at 7x degree C . Because they decreased the power (watt) used by cpu and make it cooler.

You would probably need more heatpipes. The heatsink/fan configuration is great but the rate of heat dissipation will be bottlenecked by those two heatpipes. You would at least need 3 heatpipes at minimum on the GPU (4 if the 2060 is the 115w variant).

UK Acer store has this with the 1650Ti and a 144Hz screen for £900, but can get 15% teacher discount. Tempted to get either this or the MSI Bravo 15 with the 4600H/5500M (this is more expensive).
