In the 70s, we didn't categorize the music. If we could dance to it, it sounded good, was funky, musicians were on point, singers were singing, that's all that was required.

Exactly right. Categorization is mainly done for commercial reasons, but I increasingly believe that you can at most say that there is music for different purposes, without attaching all kinds of labels to it.

Lonnie is a Richmond, Virginia native along with his brothers Donald & Ray. Their father, Lonnie, Sr. sang with the legendary gospel group, "The Harmonizing Four". Donald is featured here on vocals and is also a accomplished pianist and flutist. Ray is the last original member of the "Jarmels" who made the song "A Little Bit of Soap". Iike how Lonnie started out at the beginning of the song with that funky keyboard sound and then just just laid back in the background but you can still here him in the background doing his thing he just lets the other musicians shine and showing their talents then at somewhere at 2:50 or 2:51 he cuts loose on his keyboard 🎹 again but never overshadowing the other musicians this is pure raw talent no doubt about it
