Awesome video as always! I’ve played over 300 games of SI and started playing after NI came out, but I still haven’t touched HME, partly because I’ve been working on mastering the earlier adversaries but also because they’re pretty confusing at first glance! But this broke HME down and made them approachable. I love this Aces series. I think it’ll be a valuable resource for SI fans for a long time! I hope everyone out there searching for “Spirit Island [Adversary] Guide” finds these videos. Great job!

@@gavintopnik465 yeah it’s a double edged sword - do I re-record to have a more “normal” game? Or do I keep it to demonstrate unique play patterns? I figure there’s enough other normal gameplay recordings out there that I can keep the insane luck.

Regarding the third tip, timing the Salt card: You can isolate in turn 5, and for the build phase, only lands with 1 or 2 invaders will build. I've had some success with having a few empty lands, getting 1 explorer in each and then gather it away.

@@AndreasVNesje isolate has much less value in this matchup than many others, but getting a guaranteed explore denial is very good!
@AndreasVNesjeАй бұрын
@@ryanlackie1129 Really? You can dodge half the escalation turn 4, 6 and 7 if you miss the terrain type, you can stop an empty land from being affected by the salt card all together (no explorer means no building even if it is a non-mining land). I thought it had at least decent value.
@dicklee9528Ай бұрын
hi, may i ask about something about the salt card explore phase? do the explorer requires a source(adjacent city/town)?
@ryanlackie1129Ай бұрын
@@AndreasVNesje oh sorry, I meant in the more general sense. England and HLS provide opportunities for greater value by having isolate skip their level 1s. Here its value comes solely from denying explores

@@ryanlackie1129 Oh yeah, i see, I totally agree with that.

That's interesting! I find Lure quite difficult to play into HME, since while Lure is good against explorers, the sheer amount of them added by HME (and Lure's own powers) makes it far from easy, in my eyes. is it meaningfully easier in solo? imho you just do not get enough push actions to dump them all into the built-up lands that you want them to be in, unless you happen to get a really good minor for that. add to that that unlike Russia 3, Lure cannot turn off ravaging mining lands with its special rule (and can only solve lands purely consisting of explorers with it), and all the 0 range inland restrictions on everything, and the ... pretty average(?) tracks, and I just don't see what about lure would make the matchup more compelling than your average spirit.
