If I remember correctly, there is a HOTAS style stick that the PSVR2 controllers connect to that allow an actual HOTAS feel. I think it is magnetic, so you can detach and still use hand controls too. It's been a while since i looked into it.

I bought my Thrustmaster HOTAS ready for this. But have been using it on Il2 Sturmovik. Which is awesome too. And the addons are very expensive but they are like 75% off atm. So I bought about £130 worth of campaigns and planes etc. I own all the main campaigns now like moscow/ Normandy,Kuban. And a couple others I forget the name of Boggsplatte or something lol. But also bought loads of other campaigns. So much content but 75% off I had too. Game looks insane in VR as well.

Regarding HOTAS, I got a Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4 for PS4, which is compatible with PS5/PSVR 2. It's not too pricey and is currently on a slight discount on Amazon UK for 62 pounds. I've seen it on sale for cheaper here in Canada, but I don't know what the typical prices/sales are like in the UK. As for the game itself, I think they delayed it substantially to work on the PC version, which was probably a smart move for the sake of building a sustainable audience. I'm not much of a MP guy (I don't even have PS+ right now), so I'm waiting to see how substantial the single player content is. Hopefully it's good though, as I loved Ace Combat 7's VR missions and Star Wars Squadrons on PSVR 1 with the HOTAS. And you might be able to interact with everything still while you're using the HOTAS, they'd just have to make an option where there's a button on the controller to trigger whatever you're looking at. So if you wanted to open the canopy, you'd just have to look at the canopy handle and press a button to make it open. It would be less immersive but better than nothing. OR, they could implement hand-tracking, so you could take your hand off the HOTAS to interact with other things. That would be 🤯
@40sndFanКүн бұрын
No haptics though, I hope they offer some better options for those who want to use sticks. I bought a flight stick base for the sense controller. Best of both worlds in my opinion. Can manipulate the cockpit, still have a stick with haptics

PSVR2 has become a sleeper hit. I was afraid there would be no games, but I thought it worth the risk when it was on sale for $349 (the first time). I have to say, I'm quite impressed (after I became accustomed to the VERY narrow focus window). Also purchased magnetic prescription lenses...these weren't too expensive, maybe $35 US, and this last Christmas my wife got the PSVR2/PC adapter. Its a really good platform!

I wonder if there will be a playable demo of this to get people hooked before getting the full game?

Super excited for Aces of Thunder. I use to play War Thunder a lot on my PC, for years (before PSVR1 ruined flat gaming for me). I know the quality and realism are going to be amazing, coming from that team.
@supercededmanКүн бұрын
I'm an absolute newbie to this sort of game. I do simracing (cars) with a wheel and pedal set, and expensive rig, but I love anything to do with WWII aircraft. What do you think are the minimum requirements (console) to control the aircraft?
@HYPH4ZEКүн бұрын
@supercededman I think it'll depend on how well they implement the VR controls. I also have a racing Rig for GT7 and absolutely love it. For Aces, they will most likely do a bit like No Man's Sky and Ultrawings where you virtually grab the stick in front of you with your sense controller. They may also add an option to use just the dualsense like StarWars Squadrons. Finally, Aces of Thunder was confirmed to also have the option of using a HOTAS (stick controller).
@DanPyjamas2 күн бұрын
I think there's still only 2 HOTAS Available for playstation? Reports on the Ace Combat 7 Hori compatibility seem varied. The Thrustmaster T-flight 4 definitely works. Both aren't great quality tbh. Just put drop your controller into an egg cup :D
@DanPyjamas2 күн бұрын
There is the "ProTas" by protube for PSVR 2 now. Looks like the best of both worlds to me if it's easy to unclick... Or if you just don't mount your off hand to anything
@40sndFan2 күн бұрын
@@DanPyjamas it's great, takes a real deliberate down and to the right movement to detach it. But during flight, it's solid. I just grabbed one for the stick hand, throttle hand can rest on my chair arm.

This will be sweet. Would be awesome if PS5 could get MSFS 2024 with VR
@GreyMatterShadesКүн бұрын
There are some strong rumors PS5 will get MSFS, but I haven't heard anything about VR and imo it's a long shot. But if it happens and runs well, that could be a game changer. Apparently the PC VR mode brings even very powerful PCs to their knees, but with only one hardware spec to optimise for (or 2 if there's Pro enhancements) and eye-tracking/DFR, maybe a PSVR 2 version could punch above its weight.

The big thing for me with this is how it controls. I don't anticipate buying a HOTAS for this so how do the standard controls work? Virtual HOTAS has not worked well for me in other flying games and I'm not sure how the VR joysticks would do with precision controls like flying an aircraft. I might actually prefer using a standard Dualsense controller if that's an option. Who knows? The controls will be one of the make/break things for me. Virtual HOTAS only might keep me from being interested in this. Just my two cents.
@GreyMatterShadesКүн бұрын
Hopefully there are options. It would be nice if there was an option where you could just grab the stick with either Sense controller then put your hand anywhere (like rest it on a chair arm) and use that controller's analog stick, and a similar option for the throttle. Virtual HOTAS could be fine for short bursts, but I think my arms would get tired of it pretty quickly.
@Qombat98922 сағат бұрын
@@GreyMatterShades My issue with virtual HOTAS is just that I can't seem to ever get precise with it. Without the physical feedback of a stick, I always seem to turn too much or too little. Also, the changes in direction don't seem very responsive to me. This could be entirely user error but I haven't found a way that doesn't have me turning all over the place unintentionally with a virtual HOTAS configuration.

Agreed. I played quite a bit of War Thunder in the very early Beta days, but I fell off for precisely that reason. Fortunately Gaijen have previously stated that this game will NOT be based on the free-to-play, pay-to-win model.

@dvod354020 сағат бұрын
@aodhan.4053 please. The rare communication they do put out is only to let the fans know its been delayed. I've played the vr plenty to get my fill, but by the time this comes out there will probably be a better VR available that most will have moved onto. Much longer and they probably have a risk of spending more to develop the game than they'll make of it. It doesn't even have that big of a following in the first place, i cant imagine what kind of sales they expect.
