This was Barry’s signature song from the moment it was released. He was about 20, and the twins around 17 (+/-, didn’t look it up) when it was written and recorded. I like the live version from the Ed Sullivan Show. Amazing how young they were. . . .

Yes. My favorite is from the 1979 Spirits tour. Barry pours his heart out singing on that tour.❤ It was sung by Barry.❤

It's so darn sad to know we'll never hear this kind of music again except from only in the past.

Another great song from the Bee Gees in the 60s that was written for Otis Redding is "To Love Somebody" who unfortunately died in a plane crash before recording it.

The BeeGees wrote most of their own songs, including this one. They wrote for many other artists, too, including Barbra Streisand and Dolly Parton. They had wonderful hits in the 1960s and then had a fabulous resurgence during the disco era. They wrote and sang the songs in Saturday Night Fever. One of my favorite groups - thank you for the review!

@ Yes. “Yes, the Bee Gees wrote the vast majority of their own songs, with the primary songwriter being Barry Gibb, although all three brothers contributed to the songwriting process and co-wrote many of their hits; they are considered one of the most prolific songwriting groups in pop music history.”
@nelerhabarber56023 күн бұрын
@@debbiewilliams1364 They wrote ALL of their songs, except a few they sang as teenagers like lollipop, blowing in the wind... and this were no cover versions or written for them by other artists/songwriters or their version from the Carole King TRIBUTE!

Andy Gibb did his own rendition of this great song. He was invited to sing at a Command Performance for President Reagan & what a stunning live performance it was....such control of his voice , stage presence and charisma. It is must-see🔥

Incredible performance. He looked and sounded so much like Barry. They were so much alike down to their identical birthmarks.

I love the old BeeGees a lot but I also love the disco transition the BeeGees did. They did it well and kept themselves in the music industry for much longer when they did. It was also during my later years of high school and the years after, so the dancing to their songs was great! A lot of good memories came from their disco style.

To me, this is the best Bee Gees song ever. Ace, this is an example of their pre-disco '60s stuff. I think this era is when they did their best work. With both of his brothers dead and gone, Barry Gibb went into the Nashville RCA studio a few years ago and recorded some of the Bee Gees' best songs with some of Nashville's best country artists for the album "Greenfields.". He recorded "Words" with the great Dolly Parton, for whom he wrote a couple of songs that she recorded (one with Kenny Rogers) and made them hits. This Barry and Dolly collaboration was pure magic. Here is a promotional video about the project. It's sure to make you want to listen to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4KQgo2bl9Sqa7Msi=QvILnW-3O7ylaF6o

This is a great song by the Bee Gees. One of those songs that was covered by several others. I've had it on records by Elvis & Glen Campbell.

Too often the pre-Disco Bee Gees are overlooked. I loved the Bee Gees from the mid-1960s to about 1976. I really disliked the Disco stuff. I didn't dislike all Disco, but I was not a fan of the Bee Gee's disco songs from Saturday Night Fever. But everything before that? I loved it all.
