Lol, this reminds me of bush repairs to my Landrover in Botswana. At one stage I had to sit in with a driver from the garage going for spares. He only had a provisional licence.

well, yes, this is how it works with bush repairs. I'm always glad to be in Jaisalmer since there is always somebody there who can repair my old jeep - such places are made for jeeps and mechanics there have spares, tools and most important: excellent skills. In Bengaluru, a 14 Mio city, I am meanwhile almost lost with that vehicle - difficult to get spares, and I doubt that there is anybody with this much experience as in Jaisalmer. But if you have any brand new fully electronic vehicle you are most probably better doing here than there in the desert in case anything goes wrong ... ;-)

@@bangalorebobbel yes I really like Bangalore/Bengaluru. Had a team there before I retired. Great people.

@@kevgermany yes lot of great people here. And anyhow one gets also dependent on the city ... when I'm out for longer I get somehow kind of homesick, as ridiculous this might sound 😁😁😁

@@bangalorebobbel Hi ! I have a 2002 Marshal. I needs little restoration. Also I need to do some modifications. I am from Kadapa ( in AP) roughly 300 km from Bangalore. I would like to know the address and contact details of your mechanic. It would be of great help. Thanks in advance.

@@sandiprxz Hi, just to avoid confusion: this welding job here in the video as well as other repairs shown in former videos were not done by my Bangalore mechanic. It happened all in midst of the Thar desert in Rajasthan, in a city called Jaisalmer. This is really a good place for all kind of jeep repairs since they have plenty of safari jeeps there for tourist business and plenty of all kind of workshops to keep these vehicles running, whatever age they have. And since my major problems happen usually when I travel there up to Rajasthan and I have to go for repair, it is done there. But Jaisalmer is 2500 km away from Bangalore and currently travel is almost impossible due to corona restrictions and border controls with pcr tests and quarantine and all that stuff ... so I guess it is no option to send you there 😁 In Bangalore jeeps are quite rare so my mechanic doesn't get specific Marshal spares etc. but they can still do lot of normal works like brake repairs or paint jobs or so. But I don't know whether it makes much sense for you to come for such kinda ordinary jobs 300 km from Andhra, I'm sure there are plenty of other garages who can do the same work much more close to you. That said, of course I can give you my mechanic's details: it is YV Car Care Hulimavu (pl just type that in google maps for location and further details).

Nice video keep uploading. I also own a 2004 Mahindra Marshall 4wd. Have u done any modifications or is it stock

Thank You! And no, didn't change anything relevant, it is more or less plain stock. 4wd came from factory, AC was build in at the dealership before I got it, some extra lamps, that's all. Last year I gave it an overhaul i.e. new seat covers and paint job. Uploaded recently an actual review, there you can see it in all its glory ;-)

Bob, how do you manage not getting ripped off, I know you are German and Indians probably think they can charge a premium for the same work.

Well I can only say that I have very rarely the feeling somebody in that business wants to rip me off. I surely believe most of these men are totally honest and one can definitely trust them. And that is at the end of the day also what everybody does - means if you bring your vehicle to somebody for repairing your brake, your life is in his hands ... I know the price level of spares for my vehicle and I know what they usually take for labour so I do my own calculations and if I would have any doubt I would simply leave and go to the next one. But I met meanwhile so many honest and trustful people in all of that garage business and I think 99,99% of them have never any other intention than helping you and getting properly paid for proper work, they are no cheaters. Of course most of them will be truely happy if their good work is extra recognised by a good tip, but I think even that is not really expected. I truely respect these people. Most of them, even and especially in small garages, have at least serious manufacturer training, many have also some sort of engineering degree (at least the shop owners). Maybe not all but most of them do excellent work and I totally recognise their expertise and skills. My general experience about being cheated, especially as foreigner, is somewhere else. I tell you first my personal number 2 of cheaters. I guess one of the main industries of cheaters is maybe auto business, especially here in Bangalore. My experience is about 7 out of 10 are honest, going by meter or asking a fair price, but 3 are openly cheating, means cheating Indians as well as foreign customers. Only difference in cheating is the rate, if they take double from Indians they take triple or more if you come with pale skin and ugly face. 😁 And now the number one. My absolutely No 1 where foreigners are really ripped of is: tourism establishments and other enterprises like museums and national forests which are run by government. Means if you see anywhere entry fees split in 2 Rs for Indians and 400 for Foreigners or so, you know: wow, yes, that is the real way of how to cheat foreigners. An auto driver might ask double or triple, doing it even so hidden, but these officials take easily ten or fifty or hundred or two hundred times more from foreigners. Officially and in plain daylight. This is not unseen, of course, also in Sri Lanka, just for example, they cheat foreigners in that very open way. But imagine what would happen if Indians coming to UK, US or Germany would be asked to pay 100 times more for entry to a museum than any white skinned person? Or if a yellow cab driver would kindly ask them: meter plus 200? 🤣🤣🤣
