My husband is a wounded vet here in Canada that has had 14 brainsurgeries due to his on duty injury and… has two intra cranial shunts in his brain to keep him alive. Both shunts are failing and he is and has been dying the most slow and miserable death I have ever witnessed. As a result of many things my health has been giving out as we raise our 3 children that are now pretty much grown. The two younger ones, boys have grown up with dad having brain surgeries and thinking that was normal until they got old enough to understand and now.. it fills them with dread. It is so sweet to see the careful loving way they have with their father tho. The reason I am writing this is because my husband spends an awful lot of time sitting and watching tv. His injury was a training accident and Phil is the gentlest soul (he worked on avionics in military jets + taught avionics for a time at the military college here in Canada) so when I came across this channel I figured I would show it to him. You see… Phil’s parents were immigrants here in Canada and our last name is Hoolboom. Based on our last name you can guess that he is Dutch, a Dutch Father and an Indo (Indonesian Dutch) mother. Phil as a child and teenager went to Holland to visit with family and was raised in the secure knowledge that tho he is Canadian.. then he IS DUTCH! So to the point. I showed my husband this channel and I have not often seen him react in the way he did. He started with (because I thought he would only have energy to watch a couple of videos) 2-3 videos and had such tears in his eyes@each one. Then he kept going… At some point I fell asleep on the couch beside him, only to come to with Phil just drinking in each video, one.. after the other. He told me he found them so beautiful, so uplifting and he loves the work being done for the animals. The smiles I seen on his face off and on that night were so heart warming and since then I come across him checking out a video here and there. I just wanted to thank you… for giving this help to the animals, but also.. for giving so much more to so many. We are with you in spirit while you help the wee ones and.. we will be watching! Gudrun Anna

You are such a loving and strong woman to take care of your chronically ill husband. My mom had Alzheimer's for 15 yrs. In the last 6 yrs. of her life she was reduced to an infant. I had to do everything for her. To see my mom lose herself and not being able to do anything about it was very heart breaking for me. So I feel your pain. My health suffered as well. We try to be super caregivers. But please try to give yourself some breaks and loving care for yourself. You deserve it! I'm so glad he is getting some enjoyment out of these videos. May your family stay strong, find comfort and grow closer to each other.

This story you’ve told has really hit me hard. What a devoted woman you are to take on this task that never ends. I have been chronically ill for 21 years and I am alone, although I had a 40 year teaching career and raised two children mostly on my own. I wish my kids would even call me to see if I’m ok, but they just want me to do things for them. I never hear from my daughter and we used to be best friends until she married a guy who is not a social person and jabbed at me with the most hurtful words I’ve ever heard once they were married, and had a child. I was floored, hurt, and to my dismay, my daughter started acting like I was the enemy as well. I can’t tell you how much this hurts, and I think it’s caused a lot of my anxiety. To make matters worse, my grown son has mental issues from meningitis at age 7. They shame him and hate him. We are all enemies, except for the beautiful girl they’ve brought into this world, who is my only hope for love and goodness in my life. I don’t even know why I told you this, except that you are an inspiration to me that there are still good, loving people in this world❣️ Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your story, and how this man in the video and his love for animals has touched a heartstring in your husband and has given him joy. I hope for the much future happiness for your entire family, and I wish I knew you, because I’d love to help you. Much sincere love❣️🩷🙏

Yeah birds are weird. When mother birds feed their young babies, they literally stick their whole ass beak into the babies mouth and vomit up food directly into an area in the upper esophagus called the "crop." When birds finally eat on their own, they also collect food in this area before it goes in the stomach. With the baby, you can see the yellow food in the crop after the feeding. This is why it looked like the baby bird was trying to swallow that feeding tube.

I think Jenna is a perfect name. Jenna means "Little Bird" and is what we named our tiny kitten when she jumped from the headrest of the front seat to the headrest of the very back bench of our full sized fan. She was always full of energy and spunk, every day making us laugh at her antics and pull out our hair when her courage led her into some potentially dangerous situations. We had to put her down last year, a few months after her 20th birthday. I think this little bird has just as much spirit and a long, happy life ahead of her. ❤️

Al-bird Einstein? 😆 When she grew up, she became so beautiful. It's amazing how they are so comfortable around you and it goes to show the time and care you put in for them. I'd never seen a chick without their feathers eat, so I was surprised to see how their neck bulges with their food. I guess that's normal? Now I'm curious...

MaryCarl on Mrs Cog Hill and Cog Hill Farm talks about their crop and how to know when it's full as she hand feeds her baby pigeons. She is born to be a bird whisperer, too.
@oliviadavis3638 Жыл бұрын
Birds actually have quite large crops, it just doesn’t occur to us how big they are because usually they are covered with feathers. But in this case, (a featherless baby bird with basically clear skin) we can see wonderfully just how big it is!
@Lonesome__Dove Жыл бұрын
Yeah its amazing right! It'd their crop. It fills before the stomach snd when the stomach empties they swallow whats in the crop then repeat. Kind of like storage.
@hi_artmoto Жыл бұрын
@@anyascelticcreations Ah so that's what they're called! "Crops"! I'm sure it takes some experience and focus to keep from overfeeding them.
@anyascelticcreations Жыл бұрын
@@hi_artmoto It does. If I remember correctly, Mary Carl said that they will keep asking for food even after their crop is full. I think she said you go by feel and stop when their crop feels firm because that means it's full. It was pretty cool watching her demonstrate with her baby pigeons. They had feathers already, but when she lifted the feathers we could still see the white food through their skin. And she showed how it was still squishy before it was full. It must have been so much harder for Alwyn to get it just right with his tiny zebra finch baby.

The best thing I've seen on KZbin. As a small boy I raised a Great Tit, Magpie & blackbird. All adapted to their own kind and the magpie came back to see me for about 6 hrs 1 year later. He tapped on my bedroom window, I took him in to mum and dad's bedroom to show him off. I fed him, we played together, we visited his old haunts then Monty went. 53 years ago. I loved them all.

No sleepless nights, baby birds don't demand at night since they are supposed to be asleep (at least mine slept through the night,but come first light was another story), I had a pair of zebra finches and they had no clue how to raise them so I had to quickly find ways to take care of them. I used a fish tank and heating lamp I had for a leopard gecko. I'm also a light sleeper and they only woke me up once when I had dozed off watching a show.
