In this episode of the Regenerative Agriculture Podcast, John interviews Dr. Norman Uphoff, promoter of the System of Rice Intensification and a pioneer who achieved wide promotion of regenerative growing practices in an era when those practices were much less popular than they are today. As i study agronomy, i can not help but relate it to a specific piece of land. Without context, it is impossible to begin. The piece of land i always use is my son's, 5 acres in southern New Mexico at 7 thousand feet. A semi arid landscape where most of the moisture comes in monsoon season (August and September, historical average around 12"/yr). I had never considered rice, until this episode.

Does he use the methods of rain capture based on swales, ponds and overflow ponds to capture the rain? I have seen videos of these methods work in dry places from Jordan to Australia to Asia. Amazing work done around the world by farmers all over the world. I think we are entering a period of food scarcity and higher food prices.

I've seen Mayans documentary planting single seedlings into a smooth mud in about3 inch squares grid pattern. In a handmade catchment .willow terraced built up inside and filled with canal mud/ nutrition. They were single planting same as mentioned.

Fibbonaci ahh harmony /geometry . Man I love this stuff. Credit where credits due. Every lifeform has it's own best situation for itself to be in . This harmony equals health equals a greater genetic expression. Imagine that .Man in harmony with nature life into death into life etc .what an experience that would be. And it's no fairytale these possibilities are atainable.
