Hi jay, thanks for your videos, it really helps to see the journey ahead. I’m week 3 post surgical repair Achilles. My recovery has been complicated with a right bicep rupture as well that was surgically fixed at the same time. I’ve just started weight bearing with a single crutch ( right arm is in a sling), I hope to recover as well as you 👍

Thanks Larry and thanks for watching! That sounds tough. How did you rupture your bicep?

@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney thanks for the reply Jay, I’m 40 years old and decided to play a game of cricket, what harm could I do? I ruptured my bicep hitting the ball and then ruptured the Achilles running after hitting the ball, two tendon ruptures in one go, unbelievable! I’m almost at 6 weeks now, going ok. Can I ask, did you find the anti gravity treadmill worth doing?

@@larryrafiki9996 OMG! That’s tough man.! I do find the anti-gravity treadmill and the pool very helpful. I was able to do a full heal raise in the pool the other day.

@@AchillesRuptureRecoveryJourney Great, I’m going to give the anti gravity treadmill a go and start some pool work soon, I have one good day then one bad day at the moment, having the bicep rupture has really affected me as I’m not able to even do upper body weights. All the best with the rest of your recovery and thanks for taking the time to correspond, cheers

I'm at the 6 month post-op mark. I'm really happy with the progress. Strength, flexibility and explosiveness is coming back. I'm to a point where I think I'm done going to a physical therapist. Right now I'm going twice a week but I feel like I can complete the rehab process on my own. These sessions aren't cheap so that's definitely part of my thinking. What are your thoughts on that? How long do you plan on going to formal physical therapy? Also, if you're looking at getting all cut up consider checking out some youtubers like Ironwolf, burpees king, moses cuevas, akeem supreme, scott burnhard. These guys are ultra inspiring and have changed my fitness trajectory. The first 3 are mostly burpees channels (no jumping, strict burpees). The last 2 are overall calisthenics. The burpee is a fat incinerating workout that builds muscle at the same time. Calisthenics in general is just fantastic for what you're trying to do. That's where the good money is at. Health is absolutely wealth so whatever you do, keep getting that money!

What’s up Manny?! Thanks for reaching out! I heard that physical therapy is very expensive and it may be a good idea to cut the cord if you feel confident. I would definitely explain that to your therapist and I’m sure that they will understand. They could even stretch out the sessions to like once every other week as well. Fortunately, Uncle Sam pays for my physical therapy sessions, so I haven’t had to worry about expenses. Also, I will check out those channels. Thanks for the suggestions!

4 months post op I’m able to Jog, dribble, shoot, and jump my main issue right now is just stiffness and getting rid of scar tissue, but I appreciate all the video you and others have made because I watch and rewatch the videos every couple of weeks to see where I’m at compared to everyone else and it is most certainly different for each person

iam litterly at the same point right now did you figure out how to get rid of scar tissue ? thanks in advance
@Rodson3323
@Rodson3323 10 ай бұрын
@@smkedits4310 you just have to constantly rub it and massage it, throw on some coconut oil and make it comfortable while you do it, skin may still be a bit tender but thats normal, while I was going to therapy they would give me a friction massage with like that dull metal blade after each session which helped early on for sure, I’m 9 months post op now and I play ball like 3 times a week and hired a trainer for another 2 days and after each workout I give myself a rub down, it’s still thicker than my other achillies but I’m pain free and have no stiffness whatsoever
