Amen brother I am at week 8, first four weeks were miserable not being able to get my leg comfortable , grade 3 full tear, no surgery. I am doing very basic walking in the house keeping my leg stiff but it feels good to get the boot off in the evenings! Feels like it will be a year before I am 90% though. Kind of funny I can tell if someone has tore theirs now by looking at their calves…😂

Stay strong...I'm almost 6 weeks in, and trust me the first 2-3 weeks are the worst...It gets a lot better when you start weight bearing it gets a lot better...mentally I was in a bad place the first couple weeks (won't lie, when my girl had to go to work to bartend...I would sometimes tear up when alone...its gets really depressing being alone and feeling helpless) but man, I assure you it is only the first couple weeks...once I got put in the boot, it got better to start seeing progress. We still got a long ass road ahead though...but it gets better here soon (and looking back when I ruptured June 22nd...time has actually gone by fast...as summer always goes by fast)

@acjei that's amazing man, your doing big things at 2 weeks...that I just started at around 4.5 weeks...so your killing it, man it gets a ton better when you ditch the crutches and can use both hands to do stuff again. I just ditched the crutches about a week ago (ahh will use them on stairs still...as my garage stairs has no railing and scares the shit out of me lol) but it gets better man!

I know its still long way for me until im able to play baskeball and enjoy sports, but i know im doing one thing, im counting those small wins for sure. I want to wish everyone going through this crazy experience good recovert and keep up your spirit high. Best of luck and quality recovery all!

I’m at 9 weeks now. I started full weight bearing at 3.5 weeks and removed all heel wedges at 5.5 weeks. Started walking without boot in house for short distances at 7 weeks and took it off on week 8. Highly recommend setting daily goals. The pain is not that bad. The swelling is a little annoying. At 8 weeks or 9 weeks you need to practice more stretching and dorsi flexion and band work. Also do proprioceptive work (balance on injured foot only). Don’t hold your self back AND don’t be reckless either. There’s a fine balance between safely challenging yourself and yet not doing things that would def rupture it. Example: try doing standing calves raises with both feet, practice walking with crutches and no boot at week 5, practice walking in water (80% submerged) with no boot. And you will make significant progress. Also, I’ve seen vids of folks that are too afraid to make progress and others that are actively and intelligently challenging themselves. I firmly believe a strong mindset is 80% of the recovery. The rest comes with patience and time. I’m looking forward to light running within 3 months and putting on 2 inches on both calves within 2 years - currently at 15 inches and want to hit 17. I believe it’s possible.

Seems like a similar recovery to mine. I am at 7 weeks now. I started weight bearing at 3 weeks, removed one heel wedge each week starting from 4 at week 2. Removed all at week 6. From week 3 and 4 started doing seated calf raises with weight - first with 10kgs - now at week 7 doing 34kgs ( it's hard to put on that much :D, but it really challenges the calf and the tendon ). From week 6 doing assisted calf raises ( either with a table or holding hands on a pull up bar ). It's hard for me to put 50/50 weight on both feet, but I'm getting there. How is your calf raises, are you working towards calf raise on a single leg? How is your walking without the boot looking? I have been walkng a little in the house starting from week 5,5 and today I walked to the store and back ( between 500-1000m), It was pretty tiring and slow compared to walking with boot. Also you have to focus so much on proper form it's like learning it all over again

We're these timelines after full or partial rupture? I had a complete rupture and needed heel anchors and my doctor's timelines seem conservative. 25% weight bearing starter for me at 4 weeks. I'm currently at 6 (7 weeks in two days) weeks and just started seated heel raises. and a little more mobility work.
@zbyszekmtb
@zbyszekmtb 14 күн бұрын
@@brandonvickers9472 full rupture without surgery, now at 17 weeks, I can do single calf raises with little assistance, doing 1 hour of calf raise exercises in the gym 3 times a week, I thought the recovery would be quicker it's taking so long to get the strength back, but I'm happy that it healed properly and it's getting back to normal I think I need 2 more months to get the left calf strength comparable to the right one. I've also started doing some jumping, rope skipping and box jumps. The mobility is normal now without much stretching

Many members of the public are not aware of the medical costs of teaching. Teachers suffer from obesity, diabetes, sleep deprivation, stroke, hypertension, heart attack, weeping edema, urinary cancers, women-related cancers, drug and drinking addictions, mental breakdown, suicide, and death. Relationships can lead to divorce which results in a 50% loss of pension and estate. Only 6% of teachers earn 30-year pensions. Money for nothing?

@keetonrobinson2667 damn, is it because of your doctors protocol? I know some are very strict on no weight bearing for x amount of weeks. While some (like my orthopedic surgeon...I went non operation) said once in week 2-3 I can 25% percent weight, week 4 50-75, week 5-6 100 percent weight bearing. But I have to keep all 4 wedges in as well, while some doctors recommend removing a wedge weekly (mine isn't allowing that until week 6) did you go for surgery? I know there's a couple different surgeries (norm, fast bridge, and minimal invasive) with different protocols. How you healing though? Hopefully good and no pain...as this injury surely is damn depressing (especially missing out on summer) and not being able to do much if anything for yourself.

@@hebrewhammer8571 that's great that you get to go down a wedge! Whenever you get to remove those and get closer to neutral is great (from what I heard, it gets you to walk easier since your not so raised and awkward) glad your moving along now. I have a few weeks until I can remove any of the wedges (I have 4 of them) let me know if you have any discomfort after removing a wedge (a lot of people say it'll feel weird and sometimes a tad painful the first day...as your whole foot is adjusting to it)
