I'm 13 weeks post op now and went to the beach around 2 weeks ago... I agree it was sooo hard to walk in the sand! Thanks for sharing these videos I love to watch them!

Thank you for your videos. Now I am 11 week after surgery. I got surgery for crohnic rupture Achilles and used implant also. For recovery process your videos helped me.

I am at 14 weeks post-op and slowly walking again without the CAM boot. Still feel stiffness in the Achilles but gradually getting looser from PT stretches and exercises. Going to PT once a week for the last few weeks. Walking up stairs is easy but not able to walk down so easily due to the stiffness. I agree swimming does help. Thanks for posting and hope you are doing well.

I’m only 3 weeks post op and these videos have been helpful and encouraging. Question about the Pelaton. Are you able to do all 3 positions on the Pelaton, or just sitting?

Yayyy, so glad to hear! For the Peloton - this entire recovery since I've started using it, I actually do not use it as a "Peloton" for the typically workouts but more so as a standstill bike. I just sit on the bike and pedal. I was specifically advised not to buckle my feet in as well. Now that I am over 5 months post-op, I could probably experiment a little more with the different positions but I haven't had the interest to. Hope that's helpful!

OK our time line is a bit spooky, seems same on recovery, I'm also waiting to get married in Sept, will be my 5 month mark in March and we will be going through IVF as trying to start a family and I see you are now expecting!! Congratulations.. Let's hope this time line symmetry continues 😂 xx

Hi, I have started walking without boot. It worked well but since last 2-3 days the foot gets swollen after few steps . It gets better on elevation. Have you gone through similar experience?

That sounds like it would be normal to me but def ask your doctor! Ice helped me with swollen ankle and I elevated my leg while sleeping too which I think made a big difference

Did you have dry skin on the bottom of your foot? My bottom of my foot is dry cracked skin and in between my pinky😮

Hmm I think I was going 2 times a week for a large majority of my recovery!

Hope your wedding and honeymoon went well! I'm 12 weeks post op and have been walking with shoes on for 1.5 weeks. Did you find that random areas around your foot/ankle would be sore for a couple days as you began walking on your own again? At 4-5 months post op are you able do walk downstairs without leading with you bad foot and catching up with your good foot? I can do full steps downstairs with shoes on if I have about 60% of my foot over the edge of the the stairs, but this method is risky if I lose balance.

My foot was definitely sore for quite a while and it was very hard to walk during my 3rd month. I pretty much had to learn to walk again. Around 4-5 months yes, I was definitely able to walk down stairs more comfortably - I remember it being aligned with being able to walk longer distances which I also did during 4-5 months (over 30 min walks). If you're worried at all, definitely stay on the cautious side! You wouldn't want to re-rupture. Hope that's helpful!

@@HelloImAlexaI am 8 weeks post op now still learning to walk in my boot. Took another wedge out and experience achilles pain later on. Is this normal? I only have one more to go. Also, how often are you walking around during these stages? I will be traveling and doing an internship (little to moderate activity) and wonder if you’re doing everyday activities. Like going to dinner, going out, walking around the mall, going for walks and/or walking up and down hills?

You should check to my full timeline video (link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jau8qKN6qbWep6s) I share in more depth my different recovery milestones (since this injury and recovery was last year for me). I'd say in general, around this 4-5 month time I was in a much better place with walking. Walking up and down big hills would probably be a bit challenging / leg would get tired quickly so I'd be careful about that. In my timeline, I share when I was cleared to walk on the beach and I remember initially that was also very challenging for me. I'd recommend easing into your activities and seeing how much your leg can handle it and then add more time to it slowly. Hope that helps!
