I discuss ethical considerations when conducting fieldwork and explore my personal experiences teaching and exchanging with the Achuar community.
The Achuar are Chicham-speakers (other Chicham languages include Shiwiar, Shuar, Awajún and
Huambisa) and are spoken in Ecuador and Peru. The Achuar are in contact with Kichwa and Waorani (Wao tededo) speakers, with marriages now taking place. I even encountered a case of a Venezuelan man married into an Achuar community.
If you are interested in how people are conducting anthropological fieldwork in our time, then you might enjoy this video.
