Well loved but pretty obscure band Sapphire Thinkers released their sole lp on Hobbit, 1969. Here's the small story on them tinyidols.blog...

Nice popsike lp! Love the duster shirt too.

Some tasty guitar being laid down on the track you played. That guitar tone is so sweet. Plus female vocals and flute? Yes. What’s not to like? When you mentioned “Richard K” my mind immediately went to Richard H Kirk from Cabaret Voltaire. Lol. Wrong decade. The first description from the Acid Archives nailed it for me; sapphire thinkers sound like a real band, rather than just a studio creation. There’s a cohesion to the music. Love your series; as I look around the VC, you really have everyone pulling out some interesting records. It’s good to see. So much more fun than seeing another reissue of Steely Dan or whoever. Cheers!

I've been continually impressed with the titles the VC are choosing to highlight and discuss with this series / thread. Hasn't lost much steam but we've got ways to go! This band is so indicative of what was happening in those days. Garage bands popping up and getting their 5 mins in the spotlight and a chance to make it. So innocent in a way. But as you said, flute, fuzzy organs and female vox. I'm in already!

Pretty cool album I had a chance to get a copy and passed on it only to stream later and regret not picking it up! Take care Brian ☮️

Lovely lp, very much a classic psych record and has a 1969 feel to it even.

Not a bad sounding record Dom though maybe not for $100 lol. I’ll wait for Noble Records to do a reissue lol. Always appreciate the insight. I should take my Acid Diaries and dig into what I have but I keep falling asleep in my chair in the record room lol

Haha, I hope you have acid filled dreams of insanity and beauty when you doze off.

Don't have this, but want it. "From Within" is a big fave, great video Dom!

I bet you can source a copy ;) But yes, I think worth it

Hi Dom! Really like your Acid Archive series!! Definitely it’s up my valley, so to speak! Sapphire Thinkers - such a classic Psych ! I remember when I saw that cover, I was like Wow ! Acid Archive book , I am not always agree like a 100% with Patrick Lunborg takes on those records but most of the time and he’s interesting to read! I am thinking about to come up with a Acid Archive video too , I might 🫣🤓🤙

Used to have the Rockin' Foo. Sapphire is a definite keeper though. Great production work here. Sizzly guitar & pop hooks?? Doesn't get much better for me.

High five there. Rockin Foo is by no means great but nice to have those few releases on Hobbit. Interesting thing is the dude in the band Wayne Erwin was apart of the White Whale outfit Lyme & Cybelle which was Warren Zevon. Also the 2nd Rockin Foo was on your favorite, Uni! Though its very mediocre, maybe decent at best.

There's one on Discogs with a mint sleeve (in Greece) for $18, the only thing is it's in 2 pieces!

Ha! But perhaps if you have just the vinyl then would be a good move

I had a reissue years ago and let it go. The music itself isn't bad, I just couldn't handle all the harmony vocals, which I don't mind if it's done right. Anyway, nice to hear your take on it. Guess I'm the minority here, along with the second reviewer 😐

I can understand that though. There are other records very similar to this where I have a similar sentiment as yours. Some of the psych lps of the era don't really surprise or wow you.
