@@lerosa3656 the first X0X sequence which is 2bars use the same melodic motif (the first 3 ascending notes) than the volca keys or the EX800 ; I think that's what make this song nice, it's the cohesive feeling between each instruments ; but first I probably used the Pattern generator of my X0XB0X, then it generates something cool and I edited the result (by changing some notes and by introducing the motif into the pattern) ; people don't like to use generator, but if you use it with a scale, you can generates patterns that you would never have thought to program ; then you can edit the result if needed, so it's totally yours :p Not sure all of this is helpful but I like to share ^^ your music is great btw, I remember I watch a few of your videos :) do you use any drum machine or sampler, or do you use the computer for the rythm of your tracks ?

@@LouisSerieusement you're right the keys and 303 re-inforce each other, very ceephax-ish. thank you, glad you liked the music. I used to have an x0xb0x, recently replaced with a bass bot tt303 MkII which I would thoroughly recommend, sounds good and the pattern editor is good fun, a bit like the Sokkos 2 on the x0xb0x but less fiddly. I use mostly boxes and hardware, I recently spoke about it here if you want to nerd out hyponik.com/features/lerosa-studio-talk/

@sachaschneider8031
@sachaschneider8031 6 жыл бұрын

Awesome track! I love it! I'd love more details in the video description on how you did this and how you used your set-up, especially as the only piece I'm very familiar with is the Volca.
@LouisSerieusement
@LouisSerieusement 6 жыл бұрын
Ah thanks :) Ok I'll edit the description but will reply to you here :p : So basically, my master clock is the TANZMAUS (drum machine) I use her internal sequencer (32step patterns) and send the clock to : ---> The x0xb0X (black box to the left) wich do the acid lines, I use her internal sequencer (and used 4 patterns, the first one is 2pattern chained together)then the clock goes to ---> the BCR2000 (the big black box with LCD display) which has been hacked an now it's a 4 tracks sequencer, it sends pattern to : --> The volca keys, the monotribe (which do the boring bassline) and the EX800 (poly 800 in a rack, that's the box under the monotribe) ; The EX800 is modified with the automahawk, it does the first lead and the pad at the end
@ModularLanding
@ModularLanding 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that is an awesome setup. I appreciate the explanation. It is really well-designed! In terms of modular sequencer, do you mean the Hermod? I am wondering whether I should replace Yarns with that... I had a Stillson Hammer mk2 which I did not gel with, and the Rene and SQ-1. I also have an Octatrack, which I like very much but I have only just recently begun using it to sequence other gear. I will have to explore it more. The Hermod definitely looks cool, though!
@LouisSerieusement
@LouisSerieusement 6 жыл бұрын
yes hermod XD sorry ; if you have the octatrack maybe you could sequence everything with it ! SQ1 is not a useful sequencer, in talking about a sequencer with space and pattern chainning :)
@ModularLanding
@ModularLanding 6 жыл бұрын
TheOrangepeak yes you are right. I am only starting to explore chaining a lot of gear together. Up to now I have used synths mainly as solo instruments. The Octatrack can send out 8 tracks of MIDI, I think. So maybe I need some kind of MIDI splitter? Anyway I will start exploring this. It is going to be fun.
@LouisSerieusement
@LouisSerieusement 6 жыл бұрын
it's funny because, seeing your vidéos, I thought you were really really skilled with modular and synthesis XD but yeah modular don't inclued mid :) don't take it wrong !! it would be my pleasure to answer any of your questions :) :) :) really :p So one midi signal is always divided into 16 separate channels ; any synth can read all of this channel (it's called "omni mode") or juste one of them (you have to setup your synth to tell him which channel he has to listen to) then the other 15 "unread" channel would be send via the midi tru port of the same synth : for example, I send 2 signal via the same cable, one is one channel 1, for my poly 800, then the other is one channel 10, for my volca keys, so I send both of them to the poly800, which read only the 1, and send the 10 to the volca keys via the midi thru port, the volca keys has been set to only read channel 10 of course ; Theoratically you can do a chain of 4 synth and then their would be some kind of latency but try it, it depends of the synth :) So on your octatrack, you will have 1or 2 midi out port, an into his sequencer, you could send your 8 tracks via the port 1or2, and any of the 16 channels of port 1 and port 2 so what you need is a midi splitter box, (not an interface, which is so send midi via USB/computer but a splitter, which duplicate 1 signal via several midi port) it cost close to nothing :) be careful if it has to be powered or not, but I know some of them don't need power ; Then if you are confortable with sequencer, you could use the "song mode" which is intended to chain pattern together in a clever way to do a song ; like "play 4time this, then 2 time this, ect ect" I hope it answers your question but from what I understood, if you mastered the sequencer of the octatrack you will be in heaven because it's reputed to be a great sequencer :) you already have really good soundesign skills, and you seems already to know some kind of music theory so really, a sequencer is the next step for you, I'm sure :) :) :)
