First of all using a gold ring is a bad idea to set an example, no gold ring is made of pure gold( it is too soft on its own and needed to be made into alloys in order to make jewellery) chloroauric acid solution should be yellow and not black
@D0BR0VECE Жыл бұрын
True. But you typically dissolve alloy metals first, then use AR on filtered residue, which is mostly gold.

I love science.. Please teach me how to dissolve gold from other metals for easy steps
@1hardman1616 жыл бұрын
I smelt with lead, then remove the lead by cupel. Left with a mixed metal button. End result need the gold. I need to remove other metals first, then AR for the gold.Any idea's on how? Thank's

I didn't really learn anything -- other than that those two acids, together, dissolve gold... mostly but not entirely? A greater focus on how they do it... as well as: Can the dissolved gold be regained from the remaining acid? Is the acid ever 'saturated' after doing such heavy lifting? Could the ring's rest have been dissolved? (What was that, anyway? Impurities in the ring (i.e. not 24k) that those acid-buddies couldn't tackle? So many questions.
@Jorgen2237 жыл бұрын
do i understand this corectly, nitric acid can dissolve gold but the oxide is preventing from dissolving the rest?

Great video!! But next time, can you see if organic matter will melt with this acid? Asking for a friend.... XD
@jessepinkmansciencebitch2247 жыл бұрын
Also, will it melt through plastic containers?
@PuddingXXL7 жыл бұрын
Organic matter is based on carbon. These multiple molecules that form our body for example or plants are pretty soluble. The acid is basically ionised so it desperatly wants to fill up its electrons again. (Ionised means its charrge is negativ or positiv). Batteries work on the same principal. You've got an acid that is reacting with certain elements. The acid will react with the element and will rrelease electrons, which travel through a certain cap, lithium for example. The acid will be saturated eventually which is displayed by the fact that the battery is empty. That is because it used up all the elemental material it was given to or because it was no longer ionised which means it was no longer acidic. So yeah, if you have a high concentration and the appropiate amount you could very easily "melt" organic material. This depends on the material, the concentration of the acid, the influences and catalysts that support or hinder the reaction and many other factors, keep that in mind. Hope that answers the question for you.
@PuddingXXL7 жыл бұрын
Oh and that depends on the plastic in use.
