You forgot to mention that this character was based on a real life person, Mas Oyama. There's a 2004 Korean action film based on this person called Fighter in the Wind. Highly recommended for martial arts fans.

I remember getting a Sega genesis cart in a slim box called Art of Fighting back in 93/94. I always enjoyed playing the game and at times lost to the final characters.... The one character that stood out to me was a man in the mask...aka...Mr Karate. Not only was his attacks overpowered, but he could literally in the span of 2 seconds recharge his ki meter to then perform another huge special fireball. Back then I never knew about the whole story, but this video helped alot.

I love how when Takuma fight as himself, he hold most of his techniques especially his DP. Mr Karate DP is probably the best dp in any fighting game character. The only that match Mr karate's is Rugal's genocide cutter

I loved how in KOF 13 he is implied to be a demon. Everyone had this oh shit aura whenever they come up against Mr Karate. The scariest part for me is when even the bosses respect him, or at least find some measure of respect for him. Even the orochi women have some pretty unique dialogue with him. And he just laughs them off.

I preferred the shin version of Mr Karate of Takuma. Not Ryo Sakazaki. He was able to go toe to toe with Shin Akuma in SVC chaos. A perfect example of martial artist achieving true power based on strength, training and grit alone compared to Akuma who exchange his humanity and soul in order to achieve full potential of Satsui No Hado, credits to the team who manage to do this game based on lore alone.

true. akuma just boasting with he's demon powers. anybody can be strong with it. but it's just to cheap. that's why ryu reject the satsui no hado. serious Mr karate wins through his dedicated training. just pure training without having demon powers. shows how prefect example Mr karate is.

@@fightingforce8498 yeah its true thats mr karate is unlike akuma, who achieved tremendous power by normal means, thru training. But to say ryu rejects satsui no hado is not entirely correct. You see at ansatsuken school they emphasise two ki or hado technique to empower and strenghthen their attack. They had to choose whether or not to use satsui no hado or mu no hado as their hado training. Under gotetsu tutelage, akuma and goken was taught to mix the hado power, but after witnessing akuma murdered gotetsu in a single duel using satsui no hado and achieving status oni. Goken discard the usage of satsui no hado and started to teach ryu and ken mu mo hado. The counter of satsui no hado.

Nightmare Geese is stronger than (Omega) Rugal in KoF2002UM, and serious Mr Karate is stronger than Geese in SvC Chaos, so I'm siding with the Kyokugenryuu grandmaster on this one. Not to mention Rugal uses augmentations like the Orochi power he got from Goenitz, while Takuma is all training, to the extent he beat up people with his sheer spirit in his strongest move in KoF XIII.

Don't count rugal short, he has a huge power advantage, geese is all about tech, where ruagl has a high ratio of countering, Mr karate is inbetween, mass of destruction and high end combos

I might be mistaken, Glow, but I understand the main archs/storylines in SNK are the ones of Art Of Fighting and Fatal Fury/Mark of the Wolves, which are connected. The King of Fighters is some kind of alternate universe as the development team who worked on KOF 96 mistakenly added Geese Howard to the game's roster because they didn't know he died in Real Bout. It also makes sense since Geese Howard is much younger in AOF, meaning that the events of the first Fatal Fury take many years after the second Ryuko no Ken.

I prefer the KOF versions of the Sakazaki family over their AOF selves. The AOF games are hard as shit, the extreme difficulty of AOF2 killed any enjoyment I would’ve had playing it. Also they seem much easier to play as in the KOF series anyway.

I think he dyes it. His facial hair in Fatal Fury Wild Ambition is brown while his top is blonde. I mention Fatal Fury Wild Ambition because he's 12 years older than his AOF 2 appearance(his AOF 2 appearance is how he's seen in most of the games he's in. Wild Ambition is a 3D remake of Fatal Fury 1)...and he's unlockable in that game. He also has brown facial hair in his Buriki One appearance, which was re-used for NGBC and KOF MI+MI2+MIRA.
