[HA] = 0.0389, not 0.00389!!! My mistake. [H+] and final pH is correct in the video, but I wrote the [HA] incorrectly. 👉 Get my help with Chemistry Tuition → www.easymodeexams.com/ 👉 Boost your Chemistry Grade in my FREE Community → bit.ly/chem-community

8:45 so for buffer calculations do you always minus OH- from the acid because in buffers the equilibrium always shifts right? also thanks for such helpful videos!
@daisylawrence74478 ай бұрын
does this calculation basically give you the unreacted CH3COOH value?

Pls lmk if you ever find out the answer as I’m wondering the same thing

Yo does the henderson hasselbalch equation work for this question? I tried using the equation but it didnt get the correct answer, or maybe I did some workings wrong

With example 1. Did we have to work out the moles because the concentrations given initially is what they were *before* they were mixed so you can’t just use those concentrations and put them into the ka equation ?

Exactly! :)

Should be in next couple weeks 🤞

if the question tells you what the buffer solution contains, does this mean you don't need to work out final moles because the buffer has already been formed and the reaction has happened?
@easymodeexams336 ай бұрын
I've never seen a question in that format tbh, they will normally tell u starting variables, and you calculate final buffer variables

hi is there any point in still dividing it by the total volume? especially as they still cancel out?
@easymodeexams339 ай бұрын
Yeah you can skip that step :)

I'm confused by your value for [HA] I did 0.00175/45/1000 and got concentration as 0.0389 but I don't know how I've got a power of 10 error when I used the same numbers as you
@easymodeexams337 ай бұрын
100% correct bro, should be 0.0389, my mistake. Everything else should be correct. I'll leave a pinned comment, cheers

Wouldn’t A- be the concentration of CH3COO-, not OH- ?
