Got my second ACL surgery done yesterday. Seeing the comments I realize how different everyone’s experiences are. I don’t have much pain as of now and I am doing some light stretching. Will see how the next few days go. A few things that definitely help- Elevating, icing, and compression literally 24/7. If you’re taking pain meds, take stool softener. DRINK water and prune juice.

Hello, thanks for sharing your journey! I had ACL surgery done about two weeks ago and once the anesthesia wore off the pain was soo intense. I was trying not to take the oxycodone pain medicine but at the end I felt like I had no choice and finished all the bottle the doctor prescribed. It certainly has been an emotional journey and makes you realize we need to be more grateful for the small things like going to the bathroom or even cleaning or washing dishes. I start therapy tomorrow and I pray is not as painful. God bless

Famvestor, I really want to express my utmost gratitude to you. Back in September I tore my ACL and I’ve been out of work since, as a bartender it was impossible to work, and I finally got my insurance to approve surgery this past Monday. I watched all of your videos in preparation for the surgery, and I can’t express to you how much you helped me. I bought the Ossur therapy machine and I truly believe that alone was a game changer. Moreover than any product, your determination wore off on me and 3 hours post-op I was immediately onto my exercises and have stayed consistent with that. Your ability to not only do all of that without pain meds, but to have the desire to help others and record the process is out of this world. I’m so thankful for you and your wife for these videos and I wish nothing but bountiful godly blessings for you & your family. I’m almost able to do everything on my own and my motivation is through the roof, thank you again! Edit: (I watched these and your second experience which is why I was also thanking your wife)

@@ashleyjean3430 I know it wasn’t recommended but I stopped wearing my immobilized brace after a few days... It was hard to ice the leg with it on. There is a lot of concern that you might twist your leg while sleeping or slip off your crutches while walking... and re tear your injury... but I decided to risk it... I was wondering having ACL and meniscus surgery in October. I work from home, do you think I need to put a short term leave of absence or I should be good in a couple of days to work at a desk?
@TheHui2 жыл бұрын
From my experience it’s best to take at least the first 2 weeks off. The ACL graft and hamstrings tend to be quite weak. And moving around doing simple things like going to the toilet it’s best to have someone just watch over you and make sure you don’t topple over. Some people manage fine but I’m pretty sure the Surgeon will tell you himself to take a bit of time off at least.

I just got the results of my MRI and I need surgery, I’m devastated knowing I won’t be able to play for a while but it is what it is. How long after your injury did you have surgery? And were you walking before surgery or crutches
@Famvestor3 жыл бұрын
So I was always able to walk before surgery, after a few weeks of my body healing itself and swelling going down I could even run on it no problem, but the problem was before the surgery I kept tweaking it and it would swell up. I didn't get surgery for like 3 years, and in that time I probably tweaked my knee every other month. I needed crutches after surgery for like the first few days. I think I started running like after 3 months. But I didnt start actively playing sports again till like 15 months.

Had my acl tendon repaired as well as my meniscus repaired. IT hurts after the blocker wears off. My blocker didn't wear off until about 18 hours after surgery. I cannot put any weight on the leg, I can feel the pain in my knee and calf. Be careful going to the restroom if you are having the same surgery as me. Just having the ACL repaired I'd less intensive and can bare weight (small amounts). Second day. Meds are a must, sleep is hard to get. Hoping it gets better.

Everything was hard, going to the bathroom, laying down, walking, showering, etc…Good news is that it’s been 6 months since surgery and I have been playing lacrosse since the four month mark. All has gone well so far. Hope it’s the same for you.
