Those look like old trs uppers with speed master lowers. I’m in love with this boat!!! 150k seems a bit steep. I’m currently in an 83 Excalibur speedster that I did a complete nut and bolt engine out resto on. The 80’s boats are where the legendary stories originated.

Stunning boat, Anyone would be proud to own such a vessel and it's obviously been loved and cared for by an Apache enthusiast. Like the name "CHEIF" because when you roll in Apache you are the big Cheif at the ramp , or anywhere. You'd probably get sick of all the girls trying to climb aboard and people wanting photos and complimenting you on in . Nah you wouldn't.

Funny, I had a Cigarette Firefox. I made a few changes to it, over the years; really gorgeous by the time I sold it. Anyway, as far as the girls go, I thought exactly what you suggested; when buying the boat! Vice was running hot & heavy every Friday night on TV, dynamite boat getting all kinds of attention (sometimes too much Harbormaster(s), USCG etc when I went out & a few bucks in my pocket. Well, as far as the girls went; the bubbly, friendly, fun ones were pretty much horrified after being out on the Cigarette for the day. I think they expected a "Seacraft 25' type ride"; cruising at 28 - 30 knots. These type boats go either 5 or 50 knots as you know, there's really no mid range cruising speeds. In addition, especially in seas exceeding 2'+; the boat begins to spend more time in the air than not. I guess that has to do with a combination of things; hull design, motors, props etc. Upon docking late afternoon; I was often referred to as being crazy, a lunatic, twisted, insane and so on. They called me these names in a friendly manner while laughing and were overall impressed in how the boat was both driven & handled in rough seas; left handed compliments I guess? Did my phone ring off the hook from the 3 to 4 I took out that first Summer I owned the boat? NO!,,,,,,,🤔 🤗 ☹️ 😎. Now, I had a few buyers, from the industry that I worked in; who vacationed near me during the Summer. Both were quiet, shy & rather conservative in nature. They were both very nice, liked both girls. So, I thought it would be nice to take them out for the day in the boat; spend the day @ Martha's Vineyard. We DID! Took Laurie out first. Ran across the Island Queen's wake on the way over; averaging 6' - 8' rollers, dozen or so port & starboard sides. Trimmed it, K-Planes up, drive down, checked wind; went for it, at 60 on the nose, on starboard side of the wake! Airborne roughly 5'+ off the first roller, then roughly 4' - 5' in the air off the next 2 - 3 waves. She ♥️♥️♥️'ed IT!!! GO FIGURE. Couldn't thank me enough for a great time, at the end of the day. The other girls name was Cindy, who I took out a few weeks later. Got a similar response, from her; as well. I wound up taking them both out again, boating, several more times throughout the Summer. To conclude, the bubbly ones with all the personality & known for being the life of the party when walking into a room; had minimal/no interest in accompanying me in the Cigarette out on Nantucket Sound for the remainder of that Summer. The conservative, shy & quiet ones; actually CALLED ME to see if I was going boating when they were in town! Hey, as they say: " watch out for the quiet ones!" Lesson: If you are purchasing a boat, as some type of a means to attract women; take a hard look @ either sailboats or yachts. Have to share a quick story before I depart, conversation between my buddy Bobby & Me: Me: So, you had a good year in business, huh? Bobby: Yup, it was good. In fact I'm tossing around the idea of getting a boat. Me: Really? Bobby: Yeah, something around 20' - 25'; maybe a Whaler? Me: Can't go wrong with a Whaler! Bobby: Nope, you're right. Take it to the beach, or the Vineyard for the day; whatever. Great boat to go bottom fishing; or go out for both blues & stripers too. Good boat, good company. Me: How about Joyce (his girlfriend); she like boats? Bobby: Mmmm,,,,,,,NO, actually hates boats. Me: Shame. Buy 2 then!!! Next boat? Cigarette Racing Team's 38' Top Gun; in kevlar, with probably NO GIRLS! Hahahahaha,,,,,,,😅 😂 🤣!!!

@@brendanperry6429 You know you're absolutely correct now that i think about it. The quiet librarian type girls are the ones that tend to like driving fast, bungi jumping and other things but the gregarious ones that tell you how wild they are tend to crap themselves when things get turned up a notch. Top Gun 38 in kevlar , wow , nice work, An ex motorcycle racing champion near me has one similar to that and apart from it's bling factor the attention to detail on it is 1st class. Good luck with it.

Maximus, Cigarette??? Loved them & I do mean ♥️ them; until 2000. Step hulls are NOT for me! Now, the decision making process gets REALLY DIFFICULT when putting an Apache 41' up to Cigarette's 42' Tiger (pre - 2000) or an Apache 47' to a Cigarette 46' Rough Rider (pre - 2000). Owned a Cigarette 24' Firefox; absolutely gorgeous when I was done with it. Had one of the very last engines built by Hawk Marine; 557 ci, 640 hp. Why 640? Lost 40 hp through the TRS out drive, boat was rated for no more than 600 hp. Out drive & K-Planes matched red stripe on side of hull. Gil headers, Latham steering, Cleaver prop, Alpine stereo system, reconstructed aluminum dash with AutoMeter gages & last but not least; red Momo wheel with a marble Cigarette Racing Team logo dead center of the wheel hub. Yeah, one of the girls from the factory hooked me up with a marble shop in Miami. Often challenged when boating out there in Nantucket Sound. I don't ever remember losing a race to anything under 30'. Ha!,,,,,,,🤔 🤗. I have to admit, I didn't really have a hell of a lot of competition. Small Donzis, Wellcraft Scarabs, Formulas & a few Fountains; that's about it. This was all during the Miami Vice era. If you had pipes sticking out of the transom; Game On!!! Yup, good ol' days. I don't think I would of had as many notches in my belt, with my Firefox in southern Florida,,,,,,,🤔 ☹️ though. One of my better stories: Beach party, couple of boats there, they were from New Hampshire. Anyway, one of the boats was a Donzi Hornet III (22'). I pulled into the same cove, trolling speed, where they were. I was with a buddy of mine. One of the clowns egged me on, to race. The cove, was one of many; in a big bay in Falmouth, MA, 7 miles across the ocean from Martha's Vineyard. Oh yeah, back to the race. After exchanging verbal muscle, lengths/weights/HP etc; Game On!!! He wanted to do it in the bay, I rejected the bay challenge. I said ocean only. He accepted,,,,,,,🤗. The 🌊 ocean 🌊 was running 2' - 3's, with increasing caps. So, the race was from Waquoit Bay (where we were) to Oak Bluffs (the Vineyard). I'll spare you all of the gory details, so I gave him a 50 yard jump & remained at 3/4 throttle. Half way across the sound, I had to go get him; smoke filtering out if the engine compartment. Yup, I had the tow rope which came in handy. Had to tow the clown back to the cove; dropped him where we met originally. Once I did, they all started yelling & screaming at me; giving me the 🖕🖕upon our departure. Priceless, to say the very least! They pushed for the race, lost in a huge way, looked like a total loser in front of everyone on the beach, gets towed back to the cove with a cooked motor. Then they have the audacity to flip me the bird upon my departure! Gotta 💕 it! What's New Hampshire's motto: " Live free or Die", right? In fairness to the clown, he did have a nice boat. The Hornet was fire engine red, white stripe down the middle; bow to stern. Latham steering, TRS out drive with K-Planes. For power he had the Mercruiser Bulldog 500 HP motor. So, when challenged; I kind of immediately thought I may possibly have my hands full when accepting? To get to the cove, where we both met; you can get there 1 of 2 ways; the ocean or from other bays. I arrived via the ocean way. As a result, I knew what it looked like outside. He apparently arrived from going from 1 bay to another; to get there. That's why I played the ocean card; knowing full well I'd spend more time in the water than he would. Turned out I was right. Can't win a boat race spending a majority of the time in the air! Ha! I forgot to mention the top speed on the Firefox. Once the boat was finally finished, my father flew down from Boston to spend a week with me in Jupiter. So, we arrived at Seagate Marina to go out for a trial run. With the gas tank 25% full, the K-Planes all the way up & the outdrive 2/3rds of the way up; we hit 73 mph. Which, in the big scheme of things for a boat that size; was more than adequate. Yup, I was pleased. I hope I didn't put you to sleep with my opinions & stories. I have a few passions in life; offshore race boats, German German Shepherds, German sports cars & women. After a few glasses if wine, I tend to get a bit wordy. Anyway, enjoy you're boat, where do you do you're boating. What will be you're next one? Do you like the classics, like this one? I plan to restore a Cigarette 38' Kevlar Topgun. Can't wait. Ironically, I want to own the exact same boat if the clown that I raced!!! There are 6 boat companies I truly admire: 1. Apache Powerboats 2. Bertram Yachts 3. Cigarette Racing Team 4. Donzi Marine 5. Formula Marine 6. Magnum Marine We've owned, as a family; 3 Bertram's, 25'/31'/38'. I had the Cigarette Firefox. My father, in 1968, started off with a 19' Formula with a 100 Evinrude. One of my brothers recently bought a 1968 Formula F233 that he is going to send to Apache for a full restoration! My other brother owned a Magnum Marine 27' CC that he SHOULD NEVER HAD SOLD,,,,,,,🤔☹️☹️!!! So, Apache & Donzi are the only 2 we haven't owned. The brother that owns the F233, and I, are talking about co - owning an Apache 36' cc; I spoke to Mark McMannus; he said he'd be more than happy to make the boat for us. That's my story!

No one could ever possibly criticize the quality, hull design or the true integrity of an Apache! They are, beyond any doubt the cats ass, bee's knees or ducks nuts of offshore racing boats; WORLD 🌎 WIDE 🌍 ! Who better, I'm all ears! Cigarette, yeah we all know about them. They had their day in the 🌞, agreed. How about now? Do they have anything, in their current line up; that they could go race today? Maybe, who cares; right? They did it and did it BIG!!! I tip my hat to them, incredible boats; once soon a time. Now? I have no idea what they're mission statement today is? These monstrosities, 1 offs with 29 outboards on the euro transoms of these KRAZY looking boats,,,,,,,😠!!! It seems once every decade, there's a new owner? Donzi's had 5, right? Bertram, on or about the same. Look at Apache & Magnum; salt of the earth companies. They both maintained the core lines, KEPT the true 24° V - Bottom hulls. HUGE!! Step hulls for either company? NO!!! Euro flared transoms? NO!!! 💕♥️💕 IT! Yup, I'm a true traditionalist I guess. I do believe in the old saying: " If it's NOT BROKEN; don't fix it" They didn't. As far as I'm concerned; Apache, Bertram, Cigarette, Donzi, Formula & Magnum hit PERFECTION in the mid to late 80's. TRUE. All they had to do, moving forward, was to improve interiors over time. Electronics would improve, it has; which has nothing to do with the boat companies themselves. Now, 2/6 stayed the course. Look at Formula! They had it & list all of it. Every boat company has its own "champion" or "rock star" of the line. With Formula, it was the F233. What a boat! Then what? Nothing burgers. By the way, their 28' was just as nice, race boat. Only made 3 I guess. Moving forward, they should of expanded the line from the F233 & 28'. Yup, center consoles, speed boats (16', 20' or a 22'); Donzi types. They also made (make) big sport fisherman's; 40' - 80'! What happened??? Only real competition was Bertram, who made a 24° V - Bottom hulls! I could go on & on about these companies, I won't. I grew up with these companies. My father, after mass in a Sunday would roll out the linguisa, eggs, toast & coffee; THEN the newspapers & boat books. If I had a nickel for every 31' Bertram we went to see in a Sunday! Wow! John Allmands, Old Towns, Grady Whites & if course the infamous Formula F233's. The roll out of Ray Hunts 24° Deep V Hulls was WILD!!! He had multiple US Patents on the design. Why he didn't become a multi millionaire I'll never know. It seemed Hunt was joined at the hip with Dick Bertram, Jim Wynne worked very closely with Don Aronow. Pioneers with a mission. What's evolved from all of that? Step hulls, "thanks" Reggie,,,,,,,😠 & CATS,,,,,,,😠 😠 😠!!! No thanks for EITHER ONE. My father used to preach to us, he said more than once that when you buy a boat, you buy one that will handle the very worst of sea conditions; not the best! God Bless him, he was so right. We used to take his Bertram 38' FBSF from Falmouth, MA to Palm Beach, FL each Fall. One year, we got caught in a storm traveling from Atlantic City, NJ to Norfolk, VA. We were the only ones out there; 20 - 30 miles offshore 🤔 ☹️. Waves? All of 12' - 15' in height. I was in the salon. On the couch, which didn't last too long; when looking at the salon windows it felt like you were in the inside if an aquarium! Couldn't see the top of the damn water. Also wouldn't begin to even thinking of going my other family members on the bridge! One wave threw me up in the air, off the couch, and down on the lower floor right next to the bathroom near the v birth. Waves were coming up & over the marlin tower. Engine alarms kept going off; ALL DAY! That was just from all of the water coming into the cockpit ☹️. Scared??? Yeah, I was; we all were. Angels sat tight on ALL of our shoulders. This went on for about 9 hours. My father dell asleep at the dinner table, that night; in Norfolk! Point to all of this??? My brothers and I, still to this day; couldn't be more grateful for all the boating books he bought, all the tire kicking we did and most importantly in the end, he pulled the trigger on a Bertram. They DON'T DISAPPOINT; thank GOD!!! 👼😇👼.
